Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

If it were a thing, the F15s (amongst others, but this is primary offender) would be locked to 9g.

Designate target marker manually, it should decouple the marker from tws. Make sure to be within TWS to begin with. Swapping to it causes issues.

Not really any point in engaging with it. It’s now a new TDM with different furniture, DEAD doesn’t matter, and SEAD doesn’t exist with how ARMs don’t reacquire emitters. Typhoon and friends are not adequately kitted for air to ground in it, but simultaneously it doesn’t overly matter.

Oh, and ALARMs have the same issue I thought they would with the changes to kneecap 31. Looses the emitter, emitter turns back on, isn’t reacquired, thus can re-engage airborne threats.

maybe if the radar is looking at the rear of the F-35

Well it doesnt specifiy which captor-E unless i didnt see it, could differ between the different E’s

if the date is correct, it could only be the MK.0 afaik

When would you need 6 Meteors though? Thats the reality here Meteors PK is so good they dont need to carry loads of them. Fuel and loiter time are more important.
Russia realise this with VKS and VVS aircraft carrying a handfull of missles and not the 14 they could carry.

Take out/distract as many of the more troublesome aircraft (read: Rafale, but this could also apply to future additions like F-15EX or MiG-31) on the other team.

MCM victim

We play a game that crams 30 modern jets within the same airspace

I was having a look at the old videos by Eurofighter and i found this one glimpse of the Typhoon being able to fire an MRAAM presumably an AMRAAM/Meteor at 90 degrees or more to the side however teh sidewinder noise comes out as the MRAAM is selected… video came from the proposal to the Finnish for the Eurofighter

You can see 3 seconds earlier that SRAAM is armed. They just didnt change the HMD symbology.

yeah i see, just funny to see if it was possible for the MRAAM to pull that kind of shot off

Also, IRL the flight domain of the 1000lb bomb might be restricted. Limiting he max G for example, so it’s pretty hard to even compare the main pylon.
They might deem it impossible as it would limit the flight domain of the pylon in an A-A configuration

Meteor is displayed as “L” when it isnt selected and as “LRAAM” when it is selected

that EF carries 4 meteors 2 AMRAAMs and 2 SRAAMs

God I wish we got SAR in WT. This SAR live feed would be fantastic for the EFT

That just looks insane honestly
Do we know which typhoon radar and the range at which it has such resolution, it looks so good

I imagine they can have some detection algorithms if they choose to, it was a claimed capability of even Captor-M to identify ground threat types trough SAR
T-72/MLRS/SPAA are some that come to mind

Its CAPTOR-M, as that was the only radar.
Range, who knows…

The video dates from January 2020, and ECRS Mk0 development was officially complete by August 2020. So given the video also shows the still-in-development all glass cockpit it seems highly likely they are also showing it’s capabilities with ECRS.

Plus the video shows it with a Litening pod, the newer versions of which have built in SAR as well.

So between those two it is probably not CAPTOR-M.

Seen the RAF Typhoon Display Team at Wales Airshow today with ZK325.

Spoiler

Was a fantastic ending to what turned out to be a pretty underwhelming airshow. (RRH Spitfire and BBMF team cancelled last minute and an F-86 Sabre cancelling a couple days before leaving mostly civilian displays (although the Gazelles and Navy Wings were great).

Pilot for this display is Flt Lt Tom Nation who actually lives not far from me.

Nice pictures, I think the second to last is broken though?
