I think it would be rather embarrassing if T4 still uses M-Scan radar while every other modern plane already reached the AESA age…

According to Wikipedia Tranche 4s come with ECRS Mk1 and Tranche 5s will be delivered with ECRS Mk2, dont know how reliably this info is, its from wikipedia after all
Who is buying Tranche 5 with Mk2 (the only ECRS Mk2 customers are the UK and Italy)? I think the Wiki is making the same mistake of conflating the Leonardo UK built ECRS Mk2 with the Hensoldt ECRS Mk1 (step 0, step 1, step 2). The various steps on Mk1 don’t change its mark only the stepping.

Mk.2 isn’t the “successor” of the Mk.1 but a different version made by a different manufacturer. I still don’t get why they didn’t call it ECRS-L (Leonardo) and ECRS-H (Hensoldt).
Because Hensoldt doesn’t work alone on it, they work together with INDRA on the Mk.1
And they also worked with Leonardo UK, there are common LRI’s between the various ECRS marks.

There’s nothing stopping them to call it ECRS-H/I or something different.
I mean it would’ve helped more for sure. But doesn’t help news outlets are taking statements about Step 0 and Step 1 of the Mk1 and just autotranslating to Mk0 Mk1 in their minds.

Does PIRATE use laser for ranging?
AFAIK it uses something called “streaming vectors” which demands a certain chain of maneuvers from the pilot to extrapolate/triangulate the distance to and the movement direction of the target. No laser involved.

Would love a Tranche 2 twin squadron vehicle at 12.7 (or “Tub” as they’re sometimes called)
They’re capable of pretty much everything a single seater can do - I suppose gaijin could do some loadout changes to make it balanced at 12.7 for GRB (though the SU-30 at 12.3 is laughably under BR’d)
A pair of 9Ls is all it would get at that BR.
I reckon we’d see it at more like 14.3 with the full loadout of the M-Scan.
Doing the event in the EFT is just sad without the sound mods. Just sounds so much better with RCSM and IASM
The sound mods made my game crash, I had to uninstall them even before the yesterday’s announcement, the game was literally freezing every 5 seconds, and it surely wasn’t a pc issue.
I hope they fix these once and for all.
