There is no guarantee it will remain like that though. F-117 is likely being used as a beta test aircraft and given the fact that RCS modeling has not been widely deployed yet, its pretty clear its still work in progress.
I just cant see how 16x stealth vs 16x stealth, with basically everyone invisible on radar at most ranges would be fun or interesting gameplay, or how Gen 4.5 vs 5 would be in anyway balanced either
rcs in game is based on size besides the rcs multipliers the comanche and f-117 have, idk why it would be necessary to add different multipliers on 4th gen fighters
it wouldn’t be fun lol, 4.5th gens vs 5th gens irl isn’t balanced either
Well, at the moment, the Typhoon’s RCS signature is 10x larger than it should be. It currently has the same RCS signature as the Tornado. If RCS is going to be modeled for 5th gens, then it should be modeled for all relevant aircraft too. Not just 4th gens, but many 3rd gens too.
It also adds another way to buff some aircraft at least a little. Tornado F3 is missing RCS reduction upgrades it got in Op Granby for example
a 10x difference is very small change in the context of a 4th gen fighter, that wouldn’t be close even close for a significant improvement on detection range in game and wouldn’t be a big change for fox 3 seekers either, that’s why i said it’s not necessary to individually set up a differenct rcs multiplier for all the different 4th gen fighters in game
I really don’t know how gaijin aims to integrate stealth fighters.
Stealth has always been discussed as an invisibility cloak, when we know it’s not the case. Now the question is, how much will stealth limit the range at which an aircraft can be locked (of simply TWS). I’ve seen people claiming that a « standard » radar could detect a f35 at sub 35km… but this is dependent on the aspect and the radar itself. What is interesting is that everyone (expect Israel) currently uses AESA at top tier. Many manufacturers also claim that AESA is apparently much better at detecting stealth fighter even when their radar claim similar ranges to their previous mech/PESA radars.
Stealth is going to be a mechanic where devs actually have quite a lot of leeway to balance these vehicles so that they won’t stomp on nations lacking such counterparts while still giving them an edge
50 bucks that itll just be radar A can detect stealth figher B at range X and weapon lock at range Y. Easy to implement and to balance.
I would be seriously surprised if they made an actually detailes RCS model with aspects and all of that.
Yes obviously. Although it’s possible that Gaijin realize at some point that multipath kinda is a stupid free out of jail free card that only benefits brain dead rush in furballs, so maybe one day BVR will become more important - or when IIR missiles will make going sub 20km from the enemy needlessly dangerous.
All in all, in the current Meta, stealth probably would be a nothing burger. We can only speculate as to what gaijin would implement alongside their « real » introduction (F111 excluded since it’s addition is more prototype/engine testing rather than actual stealth)
like i had said earlier, it depends on the size of the plane itself and the rcs multiplier gaijin chooses to put on the plane, then the variable in the radars that affects stealth stuff is the maximum range
they already have different front, sides and rear aspects rcs for stealth modeled in game
