Given the RAF’s tendency to ‘borrow’ things - you’re not telling me that the US contingents at Lakenheath and Mildenhall won’t start keeping a closer eye on their stores and spares from now on…

‘Sorry mate - one of ours was U/S and you chaps have plenty of them - so we borrowed it. We pinky-promise that we will return it. Probably.’

That’s how they ended up with C-17s. They borrowed a few, decided that they were jolly nice thank you - wouldn’t it be a shame to hand them back… Next thing the MOD knows - they’ve got some extra transports on the books.*

*Okay - they DID pay for them.

Will Gaijin ever make MAWs work? Killed by an IGLA because my DASS system is just additional weight I carry that does notthing.

I am quite sick of everything good NATO have being handicapped because Russian electronics are decades behind.

Got a clip + game log for that?

Might be worth a report

I will have a look tomorrow cannot face any more war thunder tonight. Game is terrible right now.

one of the only reasons to grind Britain 😢

Will meteor on F-35 only be adopted by Britain? I thought other European F-35 would also be using Meteors once it is finally integrated
Besides there are/would be more reasons to grind Britain

I was going to post this but pretty sure the footage of it shooting down drones is from an ongoing war in Iran so thought it was against the rules

On the RAF’s books - there are more Typhoons available than F-35 so you’ve already got your air-to-air specialist that can smite His Majesty’s opponents from the sky using Meteor, etc. You don’t necessarily need a super sneaky platform to actually fire the missile - it would be entirely possible for F-35s to act as targeters for the older jets.

The REAL need would be the Fleet Air Arm when playing at sea with their 35Bs - there is definitely an argument for those to be given something like Meteor that can knobble threats to the Carrier from a long way off.

Alas, if you are going air-to-air with an F-35 you are probably using it wrong in any case. Just a takeaway I’ve noted from discussions with far smarter people than me. Hence the eye-rolling that inevitably ensues from such clever boffins when you ask why it isn’t as fast as a Typhoon or as agile or as adept at carrying lots of explosive things from A to B.

Quite a different beastie - so much so that calling it a ‘Fighter’ is a bit of a red herring.

So, what are the chances that someone will hit all 6 C-5s launched in a salvo from a Typhoon? Because i just met a guy who hit all 6 of them and then just landed and remained at the airfield until the game is over

Its a QinetiQ Banshee target drone.

Hi there, I have a question. Can EFT fire Meteor or AMRAAM using it’s IRST?

I believe it can based on the report that was submitted, the developers wanted more direct confirmation. I did FOIA the MOD on this, and got my first “we can neither confirm or deny” answer;

We are treating your correspondence as a request for information under the Freedom
of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). After careful consideration, the Ministry of Defence
can neither confirm nor deny (NCND) whether the information you have requested is
held. This response is made in reliance on the following exemptions under the FOIA:

• Section 26(3): This exemption applies where the act of confirming or denying
whether the information is held would, or would be likely to, prejudice the
capability, effectiveness, or security of the armed forces.

• Section 27(4)(b): This exemption applies where the act of confirming or
denying whether the information is held would, or would be likely to, prejudice
the United Kingdom’s relations with an international organisation or
international court.
