Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

I always thought the Rafale was unaffected by this, 1 year of this stupid bug…

I had this bug in the game where you saw me actually. I fat fingered for half of the game because I didn’t notice my radar switched to IRST when enemies were notching

They should just permanently implement the ability to fire from IRST, like they did back in June/July, it’s kinda stupid that we don’t have this yet when it’s proved to be doable.

Mind games to make the F-15 GE work :)))

Yeah, they should

Contract finally signed for AMK Kit development to go ahead

"AMK will allow faster integration of new weapons and certification of new external loads, including future anti-radar missiles, which enable the suppression and destruction of enemy air defence radars…

AMK also paves the way to further improve the jet’s air combat performance — particularly through enhanced target acquisition and improved close-quarters combat capabilities. This improvement is driven by extensions to the fuselage strakes, the flaperons and the leading-edge root, resulting in a noticeable increase in maximum wing lift."

Just some further information

Spoiler

"In 2015, Airbus flight tested a package of aerodynamic upgrades for the Eurofighter known as the Aerodynamic Modification Kit (AMK) consisting of reshaped (delta) fuselage strakes, extended trailing-edge flaperons and leading-edge root extensions. This increases wing lift by 25% resulting in an increased turn rate, tighter turning radius, and improved nose-pointing ability at low speed with angle of attack values around 45% greater and roll rates up to 100% higher. Eurofighter’s Laurie Hilditch said these improvements should increase subsonic turn rate by 15% and give the Eurofighter the sort of “knife fight in a phone box” turning capability enjoyed by rivals such as Boeing’s F/A-18E/F or the Lockheed Martin F-16, without sacrificing the transonic and supersonic high-energy agility inherent to its delta wing-canard configuration. Eurofighter Project Pilot Germany Raffaele Beltrame said: “The handling qualities appeared to be markedly improved, providing more manoeuvrability, agility and precision while performing tasks representative of in-service operations. And it is extremely interesting to consider the potential benefits in the air-to-surface configuration thanks to the increased variety and flexibility of stores that can be carried.”

thats why i need atleast 50 chaff to notch a r77-1 while they only need 4 whole chaff to notch my aim-120
that is ridiculous

also isnt a eurofighter upgrade supposed to get LDIRCM?

Yep, BOL Chaff has been weak for 2 years. Its workable, but needs to be spammed

https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/B8OvCzjZ7E91

First i’ve heard or seen about it

taken into account the normal cms as well
large cal has ~5 times luminosity is absolutely crazy

Yep, BOL Chaff should be at least on par with regular chaff, though arguments can be made it should be a little more effective (though Gaijin doesnt model nation specific CMs anyway, bar BOL, standard and Large)

but yeah, proper BOL “flares” would be awesome

yeah but RU aircraft dont got BOL pod, so if gaijin implement the RU aircraft would be worse, obviously that cant happen

Best I can find is that DASS is being upgraded and that Leonardo, one of the company partners that make up the EuroDASS Consortium does make the Miysis DIRCM which could maybe be fitted to a Typhoon, but I cant find anything stating it actually will be

nvm it just says defensive capability against radar and infrared missile

some guy told me it must be dircm

I found a single reddit thread claiming Tranche 5 is getting DIRCM but no source for it

https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalPowers/comments/1m9u7zk/rd_eurofighter_typhoon_tranche_5/

But yeah, most likely its just flares. Though Britain is looking at expanding the Typhoons CM count so the internal load of large flares could be like 150+.

Though i could see it happening some day, now the tech is getting smaller

If we submit the report for the new Glareshields now, do you think we’ll get them in-game by the time they are fitted to the Typhoon IRL? :P
