I dont know the exact sequence of events, All I know is that I had a Rafale appear off my nose (about 12km) . I hit ACM, locked it and then frantically tried to fire an AMRAAM and it wouldnt let me
Maybe it’s a typhoon specific problem ? Would not be the first time.
I’ll check if I have this issue with the rafale later, I’ll let you know.
It was an issue in the past with anything with IRST, but was “fixed”. Then it allowed IRST to be used to fire ARH, which I think Gaijin didnt like (despite being historically accurate), so they unfixed it
It is typhoon specific, due to the fact it has GMT.
GMT combined with IRST launch after automatic switch somehow made it possible to launch from IRST all the time, not only after automatic switch, so Gaijin disabled it on the Typhoon.
Aaaahhh damn.
It’s really time gaijin reworks radar modes selection and priorities.
Maybe add different modes - A2A, A2G, mixed… that would deactivate certain modes, and also help cycling between the gaijilion modes available for top tier aircrafts
yeah, when it switches to irst by its own, ive noticed the target heading indicator on the radar box itself seems to “twitch” a lot. Not 100 percent sure how to describe it
Im semi working on 2 suggestions to help with this
-
The ability to enable/disable certain radar modes if you dont want them
-
A2A and A2G modes, which would limit Weapon selection, cockpit sight modes and radar modes to the respective mode (would help a lot not just with radar, but cycling through weapons, quickly switching from AMRAAM to Aim-9M when you’ve got Brimstones and PW4s (and now I suppose Spice-250s maybe) is a pain in the butt. (I would suggest this of course be entirely optional)
IRST has been twitching a lot recently. Even worse when targets are flaring, even if they relock the target very quickly.
Lots of things they could do. Add more options before spawning, and allowing to create loadouts when in game (rather than creating 50 different loadouts and having to find the right one).
A few options they could add from before spawning :
- activate MAW flaring (kinda annoying to have to deactivate it at every start of a match in a rafale with limited CMs)
- default MFD screens (same reason, annoying to cycle)
- weapon selection order - for example, I’ve been using the mirage F1 with a mixed air to air and air to ground load; 2 different types of missiles, 2 different type of bombs. The current default order of selection is as follow : 1. Bomb 2. Missile 3. Bomb 4. Missile. This order doesn’t make any ducking sense and if we could at least order as we want, for example bomb bomb missile missile it would make things 10x less painful
There is a setting to disable it but yeah not the best still.
Yeah but it’s a global setting. I like to keep it for my mirage 2000D in GRB, but remove it from the rafale. But no can do
options → air battle setting → automatic slaving of countermeasures to MAW at mission start
(setting is called something like that)
why arent you just activating it for the m2k as i would assume that you play the rafale more than it
For ASB, and especially aircraft with complex loadouts, like Harrier GR7 and Tornado GR4. Id kill for that.
Yep and yep. Id also add canon ballistic computer
Casual plug:
Not quite the same but casual plug 2:
I’ll also casually plug this too as its semi related
Recently I’ve been playing the 2000D more. It’s my duty to rush the D R1 spawn and kill only and all the BMPT I can see (and the mirage 2000D is probably the best CAS at its BR. The AS30L are still no joke)
9ms are worse than 9Ls and even r60s from the rear vs jets that dont cut the burners anyway…
- A bug that could cause the lock-on to “drift” away from the target in some cases when infrared air-to-air missiles locked onto targets that weren’t using countermeasures has been fixed.
Hmm… Let’s see what this fixed ^^
Edit:
Anyone else thinks the launch order of AIM-120 missiles is strange? Shouldn’t the missile hanging on the wings all be fired first before the missiles half-submerged into the fuselage are being fired? Would make much more sense regarding drag and wingload.
Yep, this happens in the Comanche too when you bring Hellfires in the external pylons, the ones in the internal bay were fired first. It was reported since launch and wasnt fixed…
So, the lock doesn’t drift into nowhere anymore when trying to lock onto a target which is a step forward. But it still locks even though flares are in the FoV making it look like it locks onto a flare as the lock circle turns red and keeps being focused onto the point where a flare was released.
And they still go 100% for missiles fired from the target plane… Cost me a kill at 700 meters from exactly behind again.
And god damn they need to fix this stupid behavior that ARH-missiles and planes flying away from you trigger your RWR. Yeah I know sidelobes and no these sidelobes don’t go through the solid fuselage of a missile or even a plane.
Probably.
