I am not sure that I would be confident of 4 Meteor. We’ve never seen 4 Meteor mounted to the aircraft, nor have we ever seen Meteor on the door bay. I’ve seen some speculation that due to Meteor being bulkier and the F-35B bay not being long, they can’t stagger them as planned on the A, which is how they should fit on the A.
Yes its speculation, but we’ve only ever seen Meteor in 1 position, and we’ve only ever seen it mounted as a 4 AAM loadout when paired with AMRAAM and not with 4 Meteors.
Officially the ‘goal’ is still 4, but that’s only a goal.
Would be the final nail in the coffin if there’s any truth to that.
Would be launched from the same 96x shot bay, sure per shot BC is more effective but still not a huge quantity. I’d like to see BOL on the SRAAM pylons.
VLO BOL to complement the external only VLO pylons might be a worthwhile investment, but as of right now only the US and Israel have the modifications rights to make that call.
I can’t help but think the whole aircraft needed to be a touch bigger, with an F-15 baseline rather than an F-16 baseline.
