Shorterned ASRAAMs for easier internal stowage and an increased range ASRAAM with radar seeker to bridge the gap between the “mini” ASRAAMs and Meteor
The first of these is a pair of “Future Deep Strike” missiles, one of which is a ramjet-powered supersonic missile intended for time-sensitive targets such as air defense systems and is reportedly being considered for an anti-AEWs mission. Its counterpart is a subsonic stealthy cruise missile, essentially an evolution of Storm Shadow that is in service with the RAF. A pair of new anti-air missiles were shown (visually similar to ASRAAM), one optimized for internal carriage allowing two missiles to be carried on each rail as well as an “Increased Caliber” missile with a radar seeker. The latter missile is likely to fill the gap between the Meteor and the shortened ASRAAMs. - Source
Too heavy for the SRAAM pylons, too meh for any MRAAM pylon, Meteor would work out cheaper and better in every relevant way (aside from HOBS launches, where an SRAAM IR is going to do better regardless).
I’ve just been thinking… with only 64 flares and the accepted bug report to reduce it to 32, would we not benefit from making the MAW a little less aggressive? I feel like bursts of 4 flares when they’re already large calibre is a bit excessive.
Well if it’s realistic then fair enough. I just don’t enjoy the bug reporting system. I think the games developers should ensure the models and vehicles are correct and should not be dependant on the player base.
I feel we have another nerf coming for Typhoon rumblings the UAE flight test data shows some turn rate at sea level lower than we have in game. Someone is producing a report
All bug report is pretty much useless if the dev doesn’t care about it. The dev picking up bug report is like picking up a card and showing it in a poker game. HOPEFULLY the dev don’t consider to reduce EFT CM count unless they compensate it with BOL Fixes (even slight fix still better than nothing). Since as of today we haven’t see the bug reporting manager giving update regarding the future implementation.
Hi, @Gunjob (or anyone else), do you know what the current state of PIRATE is currently in the game? Does it match the historical performance? Is there any documentation publicly available? Any outstanding reports waiting to be implemented?
I remember there were some changes done to it during the DEV and early Live days, but I haven’t heard anything about it since, and I don’t have the British or Italian Typhoons to test it out myself (from what I can tell, it has the same problems plaguing other IRSTs in the game).
Yeah seems like every irst is underperforming in terms of range (by orders of magnitude). For pirate specifically other than range it’s missing tws functionality and other stuff I might be unaware about
PIRATE*, OSF, ORBIS (or whatever the name of the Su30 IRST is?) are all missing their TWS equivalents and range. Would be nice to see a rework of those modern IRST at some point
About the 30km limit, is it the same one as on the Flankers (the range gate), or is there some other limitation on top of that? I know that custom battles, for some reason, seem to have a 30 km limit on all IR signatures, while live battles do not. For example, when I was testing out the OLS-27 in custom missions, I noticed that both the OLS-27 and R-27ET were capped at 30 km, while in live matches only the OLS-27 was capped (ET could lock +40 km out).
Front aspect dry thrust, I would assume?
Does the IRST performance match the specifications apart within the 30 km limit?
