Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

I wouldn’t say giving copy and paste vehicles would be considered loved. The fact that every starfighter in the tree is overtired and obviously so goes to show they dont care enough to give it a deeper look. The F-104s.ASA at 11.3 may be a step too far but honestly looking at where they put the mig 25 which i would argue is just better than the ASA i wouldn’t mind seeing how it fairs.

I think like more than a few at and around that BR, there is no good answer as to what BR it should be at. The compression is just too extreme for any meaningful balance

True, but no one can do well in the ASA at the br its at now. Im still surprised im positive in it after spading it from stock. But if im struggling to go up against mig 23s who are at 11.0 i see no reason why it cant go down to 11.3 (ive given up trying to act like balance is in anyway a factor due to how compressed it is around the br as i would say im more scared of a mig 21 bis than i am of this thing as to negate its only gimic all you need to know is how to knotch or fly low).

Yeah… from what I know about it, its basically treated like most ground attackers are. Which is poorly, because it can in theory base bomb

You would think that but 90% of the time a mig 23 will have already taken the base you would have went for lol. Crazy to me how they kept trying to move the buccaneer up as it was apparently too good at bombing bases (it was but this was after they removed its air spawn and increased the map size making it basically unplayable in air) but the mig 23 never even saw a br increase when it was probably THE best base bomber in game and still is.

Still malding the god damn su 7 is 9.0 when its both a fantastic fighter and base bomber with napalm.

I mean sure but they could have just done the Sweden route and ignored adding gap fillers for 4 years then adding them. Ahem playing the Viggens against F16’s for years was very fun…

But that’s just one example still if they weren’t loved they could have also avoided added anything that fills air gaps like Finland lol

So Russia with its 2 best SPAA in the game, gets a new best SPAA. Are we not allowed to have a proper counter for this? Brimstone 1 SAL in this Russian dome environment is unbalanced

This report looks pretty funny today, don’t you think? But they won’t give us IR Brimstones. It’s unbalanced.

  • Two separate signals are now used by ESA radars to search and to track targets when in TWS mode. As a result, just like in a hard lock, it is now possible to track targets above the horizon with any radial velocity, and targets below the horizon with lower radial velocities are now trackable.
This update is really great. It used to be so inconvenient that the datalink would completely drop once the target notched.

I’m still grinding the US tech tree so I can only fly the F-15C GE, but the AMRAAM feels way stronger now. I mean, getting over 3K/S in the F-15 is insane.

Tested it yesterday a bit, they are good when you can guide them in (with narrow TWS), at the same time though I’m glad they kept the A’s as a loadout option, since they pull better at close range, when you don’t really have time to keep the TWS on enemies.

I think 4 + 8 or 6+6 is a good loadout for the GE.

Apologies for the off-topic

Personally, the D-AMRAAM feels like the most powerful AMRAAM so far, so I’ve been running all D variants. I’m not sure why, but it feels extremely resistant to multipath, and its ECCM performance against chaff also seems better than the others. The ECCM part might be thanks to the radar update, though. As for multipath, it could be due to GNSS. I want to try it on the Eurofighter soon. The 120D isn’t as bad as people said it would be.

Its not bad… it never was going to be bad.

Many people were just disillusioned by how it achieves a greater overall range… not really understanding that the earlier AIM120 variants were technologically limited by the guidance package and battery, not kinemamtic performance limited.

Yes, There probably are some efficiency improvements to the composition of the propellant… but the size of the motor would be unchanged, and no direct increase in propellant mass…

This is proven by the fact that the no escape zone at sea level remains unchanged, where the missile is kinematically limited.

It’s an upgrade, but just as easy to notch the aim120d as the c-5. Only players who used little skill to outrun the c-5 are dying to D rn, hence why it feels like it’s better. If you know what you’re doing notching a d takes the same effort as the c-5.

I can’t explain it well, but for some reason the D-AMRAAM seems to switch to IOG when the target is notching, even if it’s at a similar altitude. This never used to happen with earlier AMRAAM variants. When it’s able to maintain IOG+DL in that state, it behaves as if it’s being pulled into the target. I don’t think this can be explained just by every opposing player having a skill issue.
Is this really the same seeker as the C-5? I can’t believe it.

It has GNSS, so if players are just flying sideways, its going to track. If players actualy notch correctly, the D can be fooled. It’s just killing players who can’t notch and got used to beating the C-5. Also it techincally increases the chance of a kill for players who don’t notch or fly sideways at all.

iirc, early in the datamining of this update, something was found that suggested that GNSS ARH missiles would maintain DL even when they had gone active. Whereas IOG ARH the DL switches off unless in top down and ground clutter is a factor

this actually be true? It behaves in a way that makes me think LPRF (probably) isn’t implemented. Now that you mention it, it does feel similar to how the C-5 behaves when launched in a look-down scenario
If this is actually true, it’s a miracle it wasn’t implemented on the Eurofighter, Gripen, or Su-30SM2—the world would be broken.

I wasnt following this update all taht much, kinda nothingburger update for me, but iirc that was mentioned in the R&R thread

Honestly I was a little bummed the typhoon didn’t get the aim120D. But the last two days, It’s been alright with C-5. I guess we will have to wait for global stats for April to really see if typhoon players in general can’t handle aim120D

The feb data is kinda funny.

Brit mains are apparently OP as hell.
Italian Mains are performing on par with the F-15C GE (despite being 0.3 BR different)
And thats before the Aim-120Ds were added
German Mains are performing terribly at the moment.
