Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

Gunjob begs to differ :D

Had my share too with a R-77-1 coming full frontal (not outside the MAW FoV) and not getting a warning until impact. I didn’t react to the RWR because there were like ten MSL-contacts coming from that direction.

Testing can only do so much its not always going to give 100% replication so i can only do so much especially when i wasn’t given anything other than maw not working with 9km

Different question: Is there any way to disable the auto-switch to CCRP (or rather the automatic placing of the target point)? Every time I cycle through the weapons to the bombs it gets activated again and I can’t drop dumb bombs without hitting “Alt + Backspace” first. It’s incredibly annoying and cost me my plane or ruined a perfect bomb run more than once.

should be this setting

This is a “set a key” option for me lol

are you in your controls or the normal settings?

Ah, normal settings was the option ^^

just got the MiG-29 (top) and noticed something…

Both of these for a side aspect MiG-15 at 3km distance… You’d think the return from the typhoon would be more precise, not less? Might help to reduce the perceived clutter as it’s often unreadable. (It is worth me mentioning the actual solution would be to just give PIRATE its TWS but… eh)

what makes you think the return for the EF is less percise?

you are getting a stronger return with the EF compared to the Mig-29

The return is larger which is usually (maybe skewed by my experience with earlier radars cause Britain doesn’t have much for IRST) a sign of poorer return accuracy.

“ASRAAM has full ‘Lock On Before Launch’ and ‘Lock On After Launch’ operating modes.” doesnt mean data-link?

It’s possible IOG.

Must mean that in order to lock on after launch.

it is IOG

the “full” made me think otherwise, but given that they used data-link as features in mica and mica-ng, it probably is

I also want ASRAAM to have a DL. It is clearly designed with range and acceleration performance in mind, so it’s really a shame that it cannot be used for BVR

i was doing some testings in statshark with the CAMM but as IR and its impressive, in some situations it surprasses the kinematics of AIM-120B by a lot (foe running from launcher iirc), it even beat MICA-EM in long range shots

But one thing im kinda curious is the MICA-NG, MBDA estates 40% more range while maintaining the same weight (but with dual-pulse motor), wonder if they arent doing a similar thing to ASRAAM

It can be used for BVR I’m pretty sure there is a image somewhere in this forum mentioning it can be used for BVR
