Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

So same. No warning for any MSL contact until I saw it materialize on the screen 0,1 second before impact.

Anyone else also had cases where R-77(-1) and R-27ER (incl. RVV-AE) just straight up ignored multipathing? These where the only missiles which hit me while flying below 40 meters the last few days and these were direct hits, not splash damage.

I rarely use MP, but I do feel like top down AMRAAMs seem to be missing way more recently and R-77-1s dont seem to be equally affected. No idea if its just my imagination or not

Not even top-down cases. More like “elevated”. Not flat, not top-down, but something inbetween.

There is apparently a difference someone told me about, but MP seems to be a bit wierd at the moment, not sure whats up.

I don’t think AMRAAM has the same MP height as other missiles in game.

It does on paper, but it seems extremely inconsistant at times, though it doesnt even feel like MP.

The missiles are going off to one side, likes its just… missing.

@HighRiskNoReward has a thread for this regarding the Derby/R-Darter but I think it might be AMRAAM too, everytime I see it happen I totally forget to go back and grab a replay clip of it

Same I only really noticed it when playing in sim against a Chinese PL amraam slinger.

Top down AMRAAMs missed all of them and I only have 4.

When I was flying at 25-60 feet rad alt the top down Chinese amraam was consistently killing me top down.

For me it actually proved more effective to just notch them.

You don’t really have a choice if you want to spade a top-tier aircraft where you have to research chaff in ARH meta lol

I don’t trust MP at all, and I’m usually 20k ft too high to make use of it anyway, but my default is to just always notch, it’s not worth risking otherwise. But lately, definetly feels… Different

Even then… I tried… Didn’t seem to work for me. Even terrain masking on Afghanistan in ASB barely worked because of all the AESAs that was a nightmare of a slog, a combo of ultra defensive flying at longer ranges and ratting got it, but it was hard work.

Way harder than it was the first time round

That… Could be a reason… Maybe they just switch their behavior to SARH missiles via DL instead of CW illumination. I already hit perfectly notching targets like this (missile was in SRC+IOG+DL until impact). Didn’t test it for multipathing targets.

Hugging the ground is only useful when you are able to get behind mountains and physically block the incoming missiles.

The splash damage from missiles is so RNG, and with the latest damage model changes you either take no damage or it clips your wing and you smash into the ground.

Notching or turning cold is waaay better for sure, but it’s not the solution to every scenario :/

Might have been, but it’s more than just dodging via MP, but actually being sneaky. In something like the Tonka, I can make it from one side of the map and back again without my RWR even really pinging once, and when I do, I can usually hide really well, it’s rare to be intercepted. Especially on a map like Afghanistan

But at top tier at the moment, everyone is just a flying AWAC, maps are too small

Yeah, I’ve made use of MP, but it’s way more situational than some people think it is

Yeah but just about everyone is at MP level so amraam is basically useless lol.

I personally don’t trust it anymore, if I die at low alt and I was trying to MP, I always think that I made a mistake in order to get in that situation.

Half the reason why I sit so high, even in an F3. Watching a Mig23 fly straight and die is hilarious

Nothing can beat the good ol notching. That is 100% reliable unless you’re in a 1v2 or more.

Ahh yes flogger pilots are special for sure.

As for AMRAAM I wonder if it a passive thing to make Russian gets more competitive at that br.

Seeing as they are outclassed by western jets in BVR quite a bit.
