Eurofighter Typhoon (UK versions) - Technical data and discussion (Part 2)

I mean, I’m voting for it regardless, at least someone would get an apex predator in it’s prime.

Cheers :)

So Rafale just got a canopy tint update and a MFD update, but Eurofighter can’t get the UV filter on the hud?

a Typhoon bug fix? Dont be silly, we get those once per year and we had ours 6 months ago

Did we have gun leading target on EFT HUD? Because last time when I using cockpit view I don’t see any computer guidance on HUD.

If i remember right u have to cha ge display hud setting to actualy go into balliszic lead

manually? Because when I’m using other plane it actually automatically changed after all armament empty except cannon.

That’s how it should work but it’s been broken since it was added.

Welp

10 months ago??? Almost one year and not even trying to fix it…

Theyre too busy buffing and fixing the Rafale to spare any time on the EFT literaly not having a functioning gun lead indicator in the cockpit of for almost a year now

What do you know about EJ200 and EJ2x0 Stage 1/2/3?

I found in my search that their thrust can reach 103KN and 120KN. Is this true? Which European fighter jets use this type of engine?

Those are projected versions. To my knowledge, the EJ200 can be improved to reach those thrust outputs if required, but has yet to be ordered the development of. In short, its the growth potential of the engines, though of course it will probably come with its own set of trade-offs regarding maintenance, engine lifespan, etc.

They don’t see a need to upgrade right now as the EJ200 is still top-class as it stands, so it’s basically just an option in case they ever see the necessity.

There is something to do with peacetime engine settings meant to prolong the life of the engine or something. But I dont know anything about it or if its really true. Though I wouldnt be surprised if pretty much every engine out there could be pushed way way harder than normal for an extra boost of thrust, just at the cost of potentially causing damage to the engine overtime (something like combat thrust on the Tonkas)

Yea i think it was peacetime setting 90k, 103k if needed and 120k with new parts.

AFAIK:

EJ200: 60/90 kN (peacetime), 69/95 kN (“war setting”)
EJ230: 72/103 kN with 3D-Thrustvector Nozzle (unknown if thrust values are “war setting” or not)
EJ200 P3Ec (Stage 3): 78/120 kN (planned for Tranche 5 Eurofighters I think…)

A Gripen NG with a thrust vectored EJ230 would be quite the sight in terms of maneuverability, with more thrust than the current F414 engine and remove the dependence on US suppliers and regulations.

If the Tranche 5 Eurofighter really gets the EJ200 P3Ec (Stage 3) with the according thrust values it will mutate into full-fledged UFO including the AMK modification. Nearly 4 tons more thrust dry and 6 tons with afterburner: 15,6 tons dry thrust, 24 tons afterburner thrust overall. Even with the maximum takeoff weight of 23,5 tons its thrust-to-weight-ratio would be >1.

Portugal was considering buying those iirc. But looks like they’ll probably be going with typhoon now I think. So I doubt we’ll ever see them in-game which is a bit of a shame. Sounds somewhat hilarious
