I love it for hitting flankers and tanks trying to lock the spawn down. The Radar on Typhoon is just great now!
I would put ASRAAM against any of them and at least we would have some kind of parity :)
And with Gaijin’s sharing of payloads between Typhoons we might end up with 2 IRIS-T and 4 Asraam and 4 120s…
We might get Aim-9X on our EFT’s before ASRAAM due to bein compatible.
Or they can just add it with MICA-IR, its up to them.
Its a UI element in dire need of updating. I’ll get something logged this week.
I think someone already made a bug report about it if I find it iam gonna ping you on it
@Gunjob
I thought striker one only has iff after detecting people with their radar, similar to the datalink mfd on the su27s/sm. At least irl, it seems like iff would be a striker 2 exclusive as it’s a specific thing mentioned for it if I remember right
In game right now sure, but it should feed info from IFF and MIDS into the HMD;
What’s mids? Also then what does striker 2 bring over striker one, just coloured display?
Multifunctional Information Distribution System, also known as Link 16.
Full Colour, More symbology, lighter, higher resolution, picture in picture. I’m sure there is more.
can it see through the plane like some hmds?
I think so, but it’s aircraft dependent to have the cameras for that
striker 2 isnt typhoon only? also, does the typhoon get cameras for that?
Striker 2 I believe is also on the F35 but is designed to be widely compatible with basically any airframe.
And I don’t think so, but don’t quote me on that. Not been following the T4/T5 upgrades all that closely
Yeah Picture in Picture to either PIRATE or LITENING, doesn’t have 360 though as thats rather unique to the F-35 and its DAS windows.
The German requirement was to be able to cruise at mach 1.8 instead of mach 1.6 and to have SEP of 90 meters per second at Mach 1.8. They actually considered dropping the requirement in the document that I have seen.
Currently in game the SEP available is on the order of 140 meters per second at 36,000 feet. (This number might be slightly off because I’m reciting it from memory)
Basically it overperforms the requirement by 30-40 percent and it’s probably due to trying to match supercruise claims.
other than having literally infinite aoa and overperforming acceleration/time to climb which you detailed in one of your old eurofighter videos (i think the fly by wire one), is the eurofighter overperforming in any flight characteristics that isn’t those 2 things? (eg sustained rate)
I have not re-tested it lately. I currently have wind tunnel CL/CD diagram that I can reference to perform some kind of approximation. Currently I’m working on analysis of MiG-29 flight model so the Eurofighter is on the back burner.
The current flight model is indexed to ESR-D requirements and it outperforms most of them by small to significant margins.
Ironically the insistence of having soft-AoA limit of 29 degrees instead of 24 degrees probably hurts it more than it helps it since the whole flight envelope is going to be taking place at higher angles of attack than it should which would also cause more speed loss. A 24 AoA limit and making performance metrics match that would probably cause the plane to more naturally outrate and out energy other planes in the game.
Instead the plane slams itself to 29 AoA and bleeds a bunch of speed when it wouldn’t IRL. Talk to any Eurofighter pilot IRL or read any interview about DACT in it and you’ll see common trend of focusing on turn rates and power to weight ratio when fighting other planes.
In reality the flight model is also borked to an extent because it’s looks like Gaijin used the Gripen as a starting point. The reason the Rafale is considered superior in a dogfight at low altitude in real life might boil down to differences in bleed rates and Rafales ability to gain position/angles early on Eurofighter.
Unlimited AoA
Yeah i don’t think it does that in game
you would be surprised, go to full real, manual + aoa limiter off and pull. it does some thrust vectoring stuff
