Yeah, sometimes they do it, sometimes they don’t. Though Gripen fullfills top tier CAS for most of its respective nations also.
It’s entirely based on what they want to do.
It’s the only Eurofighter that makes sense for Italy to get. Germany getting Austria is a given
The UK would get the middle eastern ones (Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi) as BAE does all the marketing for outside of Europe on Eurofighter, and the Eurofighter is designed from the UK side with the middle east in-mind as a carry-over from P.110.
Then that leaves Spain which is the only option left, and also is the only one in-game that makes sense.
This is obviously all dependant on if they introduce Eurofighter premiums, I am of the view they shouldn’t as it cheapens the last European fighter in the European trees. F-35 is at best for the UK a collaboration that feels 1-sided.
who says italy needs to get an eurofighter premium?
grippen D makes a great premium at one point as well at to this that hungary is thinking about getting grippen Es
Why would they get 4 premium EFTs? That aside, Qatari one could be given to Germany due to them also having the Leopard 2A7Q, so there’s a link, albeit a weak one.
I’m not suggesting the UK would get 4 premium and virtually identical EFT’s. But that it makes the most sense to give those nations to the UK in any respect as BAE does the marketing for Eurofighter outside of Europe, with EADS doing European marketing.
I mean its possible but when the UK literally did the Qatari sales/marketing, integration and training also sponsored by the UK-Qatar joint Typhoon squadron.
But again, I don’t believe in Eurofighter premiums.
This is a sub-tree its a bit different, if Germany gets a Swiss sub-tree which I think is reasonably likely then the same argument could be made about Switzerland and France. I am aware that a large portion of the Koninklijke Landmacht is integrated into the Bundeswehr.
My point is not that the UK should get Qatar as a subtree but that it makes the most sense for middle-eastern typhoons if (and I hope they aren’t) made into premiums, they should be placed in the British tree due to the sales being made by BAE and the UK on behalf of Eurofighter.
The Kuwait One Will go to Italy, as they were produced in the Italian plant and the negotiation was done by Leonardo (with no involvment from Bae)
Regarding an austrian efa in the German tt, well…
Do You really want a T1 Efa with just two iris-t?
Spain would be a better option for Germany to get a good one seeing as they have more of the DASS features, better loadouts etcetera. Italy could then get the Kuwaiti one as you’ve mentioned.
P4E System Definition phase has just been contracted earlier this year so we dont know if it will even have AMK. (Eurofighter GmbH does not mention AMK in the article about P4E SD Eurofighter and NETMA Progress Next Capability Enhancement Package For Typhoon | Eurofighter Typhoon)
T4+/T5 will be built to whatever standard is available and mature at that time. if thats P4E then P4E but there is a good chance that it will be P3Ec
and again, i havent seen t4+/t5 for the Lw cited to have PIRATE
if by that you mean PIRATE then sure but otherwise its the same. Spanish EFs dont have LWS, they have placeholders. This is done because its easier and cheaper to retrofit LWS to them if they want to because they wouldn’t need to buy new panels
