Depends on the version the rafaello it’s probably more stealthy but i would put in terms of system and radar the eurofighter in a higher place and it contains Even more counter measures altough again it depends on the version
All Eurofitters are significantly less stealthy than the Rafale series regardless of model. The Rafale carries significant number of electronic warfare systems as well and is easier to evade such missiles as it will also not lock them as far as they will a EFTycoon. The active range of the Meteor on Rafale will also be significantly shorter than against the EFT requiring more time babysitting the missile… even in a crank.
So does the Eurofighter and the model does matter
Yes, that was my response to that same statement from the user above.
Not at all Germany has coated specific parts with composite materials that absorb the radar signals significantly and the paint does a bit of the job too, Germany has kept a constant upgrades of their eurofighter at the point where they are more advanced than the Rafaello and yes the eurofighter carries a Lot of electronic warfare equipment, plus the radar it’s much more advanced afaik
The CAPTOR-M is better then the Rafales PESA
The PESA wasn’t even better then a 90s F15
Does the Rafale even carry towed decoys?
No clue
Isnt it exclusively German decoy pod? Havent seen it in any other plane
May I ask for the source of this claim
Yes
early PESA
I think you worded this wrong.
I don’t think holding on to a mechanical scan in a world of AESA suggests it is more advanced. I think the number of systems on the Tycoon are practically required because it’s a 4.5 gen without low observable qualities in a world of stealth. The Rafale’s additional features are luxuries that really aren’t nearly as necessitated as that of the EFT.
Nope, afaik all Euros have them. The German homebrew suite failed.
AESA has proved to be more advanced and precise than PESA due to it’s working and the only issue it’s the mechanical part but in exchange You get a much more advanced radar, idk where You get the typhoon Systems are 4.5 gen when with easy research you can find them and see they are in fact 5 gen specially witj the fact they keep upgrading their Systems
One The mechanical is the best Mechanical radar ever and the AESA that its getting will be better then Most AESA radars for now
Waiting for an AESA radar that met our needs was the right decision
What does 4 and 5 gen mean to you? To me this is discussing airframes. Having similar systems as the F-22 means literally nothing if you aren’t also at least low observable or stealth entirely. That is what 5th gen tech is - stealth.
Some of this can be dumbed down to low probability of intercept radars - something the Tycoon can do, but I am not talking about this. The AESA is infinitely better than the mechanically scanned array that was still being ordered… in 2020… like bruh. Seriously. Mechanical scan in 2020.
Now if You pardon me good night or good day or afternoon depending on your zone
Because the AESA we wanted wasn’t ready yet
That’s not correct. The F-22 had a proper AESA with all the features you could have ever wanted already from ~'96. The Mitsubishi F-2 was using AESA in the 90s as well.
The reason for the use of the mechanical scan array in 2020 is because the Eurofighter took so long to develop, produce, and service… that any halts on development of a radar or other major components to wait for something better would have culled the project in its’ infancy.
Do you have a source? Nothing I find about Spectra included a towed element
India has some Rafale with Rafael X-Guard, but thats part of a upgrade specifically for the Indian airforce
