My brother in suffering, i know that the Typhoon is gimped af and the Rafale is not. im just trying to be somewhat positive and i wanted to point out something the plane is not bad at
Slinging 120s at the start used to be the strat low fuel get high and fast and send some 120s at mach 1.7 and pick up a couple of kills rinse and repeat. But 120s now at range are just hilariously easy to defeat.
And with the new shoot down someones missiles I have had a Su-30 shoot down 3 of my 120s.
You just dont have the longevity. I have actually started dropping a 120 in favour of an extra 9M to have that additional missile and when the furball develops they are far more useful.
Problem is you are comparing an F-15E a bomb truck its heavy its fast with an air dominance aircraft.
Its like comparing a Spitfire with P-38 both are good but one is not on the other ones level.
Yeah im a winge I acknowledge that, i have so many hours suffering in Phantoms and Tornadoes and even the Gripen with Darters (I missed the IR only glory days of the Gripen) and Typhoon should be amazing and it’s really not.
So what youre saying is its good at being mid in the beginning and then good in closer range if theres no better plane around? Doesnt really sound that good tbh
It’s not the best but it’s still really really potent. I’m a pretty meh pilot and I still do pretty well in it.
Yeah it’s alright at best at initial BVR. It will likely not get that many kills in this phase, but if played with at least 2 braincells it’s also pretty easy to stay alive.
Yeah it doesn’t sound amazing up close, but there is only 1 plane it really has to worry about. It just dunks on most other planes.
Also I never said it was amazing. I’m saying it’s good/really solid. I just disagree with luque13 who is underselling it.
I think mid is probably the right term for it. Cant really do BVR due to Radar issues, doesnt have the missile count to effectively opress the enemy team and for closer range the FM is second to the Rafale but its missing the missiles to really shine. Aim120Cs dont pull shit and aim 9s are so bad compared to R73s
Pretty sure it has a better TWR than the F-22 irl, no credible sources at all though. Drag coefficients on both would also matter a lot.
As for @H_ngma_
I’m not going to call it flat out bad, but it doesn’t really have benefits whatsoever.
It’s speed is average for 14.0s, the radar is abysmal so it can’t contest F-15s/Rafales in BVR effectively, and its 6 Fox3 missile load is the least of the 14.0s and very annoying. It would be nice to have 8, as more often than not a Su-30 will just send his R77-1s to intercept your fox3s while staying offensive. AIM-9Ms are workable but in my opinion, the worst IR missile at top tier. I personally have not noticed any change (like at all) from using 120Cs over the 120Bs.
Don’t personally have the 18C Late but it seems pretty mediocre, I think it should have been limited to 6x AIM-120 and dumped at 13.7
As for the F-15I/E, I find their playstle a lot less fun, as once you have gotten past the initial BVR stage, you’re a slightly faster but a lot fatter F-15C
It’s a 2 hour interview but here he does talk about how much power Typhoon has.
Unfortunately Gaijin dont trust pilot accounts or manufacturers data or sources from air forces that operate the Typhoon…
