The point is they knowingly nerfed the FM and added an AOA overide control to placate the player base.
There is zero proof Typhoon has an AOA switch to be used like the F/A-18 does. Only references I have seen suggest the AOA control switch is only there to assist with low speed recoveries. It may overide the AOA limitations the control system operates on. But it is not to be used to perform “Cobras” I have seen the Typhoon RAF display team and they do not perform Cobras.
We now need to use this stupid button to have any hope of matching any of the other Gen 4/4.5 airframes.
We have so many FM changes, and the FM still feels wrong and incomplete.
Isn’t typhoon limited in terms AoA though? I believe AMK kits were developed to improve that aspect correct me if I am wrong. I don’t have any info about if it has AoA override switch or not I’m talking about in-game mechanic specifically. That’s also the reason why I talked about instructor.
The rudder is designed to counteract those forces, however it’s about as useful as a wet paper towel when it comes to stabilisation, yet produces a metric ton of lift out of nowhere, resulting in a massive overreaction from the instructor, further resulting in instability.
Typhoon has an AOA limiter as do all modern FbW Aircraft. It is a voting system the pilot pulls the stick and wants X amount of AOA and the flight control system decides if the pilot can have it.
Typhoon I cannot remember the exact AOA limits. I have 25 - 30 degrees in my head
The core issue the player base has is Typhoons FM in terms of turning and instantaneous turning was not far off what is possible IRL.
We now have a pretty restricted flight model that feels like it’s hands are tied behind it’s back but a memey new “cobra” button as the consolation prize.
Don’t forget to mention that we don’t have any weaponry that can compensate for that. Like mika or r-73 or R-77…
Or a good radar to justify it’s BVR role.
Or a good cas option to justify it being a CAS brick.
I threw the EF out of my top tier 12.0 ground lineup. It just offers nothing to compensate your lineup’s BR increase to 12.7.
No F&F weapons, no convincing radar and FM isn’t special as well. I use the the ICE Phantom instead. Its always hard to quantify, but its radar feels better. You can still sling Amraams. Have at least two Mavericks to neutralize SPAAs without exosing youself holding laser locks. All that for 12.0 Ground BR, which isn’t harming your lineup’s BR ceiling.
Also it has to be mentioned that the Mauser cannon of the EF is really bad for strafing. The amount of damage is abysmal. Phantom’s Gatling gun is alot, alot better …brrp brrp. For GRB EF is really meh.
The Typhoon is simply outclassed at CAS by even the F16A and with the terrible radar it’s pretty shit at CAP too.
You coming in and being a smartass saying “hmm well actually the Paveway IV is FnF so you can’t complain” is quite honestly dumb.
Yes typhoon isn’t the worst ever at cas but every player that was excited for brimstones certainly expected more and would have no problem if they were implemented properly but limited to just 6 for parity with other nations.
Except you forget the most important fact of all, you’re not playing by yourself.
In this game the most “meta” way to CAS is to quickly find and fire all the FnF weaponry you have so that you can either return to base (what every Su-34 does) or do CAP because you’re a multi-role (Su-27SM/F15E/etc and now SU-30).
Being forced to constantly lase targets or rely on the GPS guidance of the Paveway is extremely inefficient and if the enemy has a brain you will practically get no kills at 12+km.
The other option is going in close to kill enemies which is efficient but leaves you extremely vulnerable to enemy CAP, Helis with AAM and SPAA with IR AAM.
