Imagine comparing SU-39 to EFT, now thats funny.
I think the key difference between the Su-34 vs Typhoon is this
Su-34:
- Spawn in
- use the Gen 3 Thermals on the KH-38 to find targets and fire
- repeat until all 6 have been fired
- RTB
6 kills, just like that
Typhoon:
- Spawn in
- Use TPod to locate targets
- Dive to low altitude and close the distance to target (less than 10km)
- using CCRP, fire Brimstone into the general location of the target and loiter until the missiles have entered range
- pop up and acquire the target with the Tpod, and maintain laser until impact
- defend against any SPAA/CAP that have now engaged you as you well within range of most
- reset and repeat for each Brimstone you have (though likely you have firing 2-3 per target to ensure a kill)
- once all AGMs have been expended, then RTB
Maybe 18 kills, maybe 6 depending on how many per target you fired. But significantly more effort required and whislt yes, the Su-34 has 1/3 the loadout, they can probably perform 3-4 Sorties in the same amount of time needed for 1 Typhoon to use up their weapons. The whole time, exposed to any enemy CAP or SPAA.
Typhoon is woefully behind the curve compared to aircraft like the Rafale, Su-34 and F-15E. Buffs are without a doubt needed for the Typhoon like replacing the ahistorical Brimstone 1s with Brimstone 2s
If you’re using Tornado then yes Brimstone’s require more skill, with EFT however it doesnt.
Which means you already give up 25% of your A2G capabilities.
The only buff Typhoon needs is the radar improvement, Brimstone 2 will be bonus, not needed.
Which should include a very capable A2G radar mode that will make the Brimstones 2s far easier to use
Wanna bet Gaijin will not model A2G modes like you imagine?
Had it on the dev server, Smin confirmed its coming. Not really a lot they can screw up.
Oh but they can, you’re trusting too much to developers.
Priority Track, PIRATE, etc etc, Yeah no chance any of that is coming.
But GMTI/T. I cant see why it wouldnt
Those modes doesnt even work properly half of the time, i dont even bother to switch my radar to GMTI mode when im using F15E or SU34.
can you even use those modes to cue A2G weapons ingame currently?
Didnt even bother to check tbh but let me test it.
He’s pointing out that “having potential” isn’t a guarantee you will get to use it. Ironically, despite Motorola’s moaning about how Su-34 is more prone to getting CAP’d out of the air (and therefore it needs to be the only jet with good CAS capabilites, pfft), it has by far the shortest time it needs to spend “in the air” (i.e spawn - > getting rid of its A2G ordnance) of all the top tier CAS planes. A Typhoon, even if you do take all of the 18 Brimstones, has to stay around for much much longer and may not even get half of the kills a Su-34 can within that time before getting shot out of the sky. The realistic kill potential difference when it comes to CAS is simply far too large between the EFT and any jet with F&F weapons (specifically in this case, the Su-34 and the Rafale), the theoretical potential becomes irrelevant then.
Yes, the EFT has a lot of theoretical potential when it comes to CAS with so many Brimstones/GBUs, problem is that theory still has to be applied to reality, and most of the time you are definitely not going to use even half of the Brimstones unless you’re firing like 3 or 4 per target. Most would prefer (so would I) to have a far lesser number of F&F Brimstones (6) since it would make our lifes vastly easier.
On the dev server, it would cue the Tpod to the lock, but was a little on the glitchy side. Also, at least in the Typhoon, it should locate both moving and stationary targets, but only worked on moving targets on the Dev server
Tbh i want FnF for Brimstone because i just want Russia to suffer (maybe US too a little) i really don’t care the about the rest
but hey thing like that won’t allow isn’t it? only Russia are allow to do such thing
Funny it fine when Russia do it but it not when other want to do the same.
how would it locate stationary targets?
this would make it quite easy to fool no? just prop up some sheet metal
GMTI mode either works or just straight up refuse to see it.
It basically locks your targeting pod to ground unit and allowing you to target them without switching to pod view, problem is tho at distances you need identify enemy units in order make sure they are dead or not.
Just going by this source written by one of the engineers (I believe) of the CAPTOR-M
Accurate tracking of both stationary and moving objects on the ground is enabled by the Ground Moving Target Indication/Track function. Identification of possible targets is aided by a built-in database that has various threat entries (such as tanks), providing the pilot with a type assessment. CAPTOR can thus also facilitate the engagement of possible targets such as fortifications, vehicles, or surface-to-air missile installations. - Source
so could be used to laser a target if it worked right? or cue the IR seeker on a maverick (or GBU-53 in future)
so just uses recognition of radar signature to lock on?
id trust the moving target mode more since at least you KNOW its not just a decoy
