Yes, DASS is a full suite of defensive aids, this would be just some limited tested features. Fitting of a development airframe.
Give DA without DASS and add fully functional production version later.
Give production version without DASS and add DASS capability later.
second plan is much “economic” to users, I think
No Gun :(
it was fitted to both the da1 and da2. the tornado engines were only used to bridge the time between testing and when the ej200 was ready
I think it would be easier to bring a vehicle in such a this DA mashup, with a set goal of having certain weapons sensors etc etc. And then provide a Production F.2 with its intended features later.
Think of it like the Tornado F.3, I’m more in favour of a “late” version because grinding out the better weapons would be actual hell. Skyflash DF vs a wall of ARH’s would be very difficult.
Its rather unpleasant having an airframe where better weapons are promised later (see the Chinese J-8) and not having them. Where as having an airframe with a defined purpose is much better in my eyes.
Yes, you can think so, I respect that.
This is just a difference in thought
btw, this makes me laugh
Oooft, non of the DA’s tested the 27mm?
first tested on DA3
There you go, works for me.
Basically this would be the holding back of the full DASS suite and better armaments. It would give the UK/IT/Ger an F-16 style of performance and gameplay. Then it could be foldered away behind the production airframes.
Only on DA3 and it specified that it was the only one testing it.
i dont see how thats a “works for me”…
btw the DA3 had software for up to 20° of AoA and 6G
Cool, so in this instance I’m trying to make a single DA airframe that has a limited armament and purpose. It can be called DA2/3/4 whatever for the various nations but would be a mashup of them all. Bridging the gap to F.2/FGA.4.
So they way I’m theory crafting this up is we take the Yak-141 as an example. And taking various bits from the various DA airframes to make one DA aircraft to be used by UK/IT/Ger.
It would be limited by armament and defensive aids. Giving you an incentive to get the F.2 and FGA.4 brough in at later dates.
I understand it would be somewhat “made up” but we’re entering territory where maybe abit of artist license is needed for the nations which didn’t produce a huge number of different aircraft with many different subversions.
If they were really wanting to limit it, I think it could even get the Tornado engines, still would be good, but just not qutie as good.
Sure but non of the DA aircraft stayed with the RB199, all were either upgraded to EJ200 or built with them. So for my mashup DA I’d fit the EJ200’s.
Yeah, i could see them going either way (actually, a smalll part of me sees Britain getting the Tornado engines and Germany and Italy getting EJ200s, but maybe im just paranoid these days with how little Britain seems to get)
But yeah, Mashup is what I reckon for it too. Best way to do it. Could even add other limiters like the Fuel tank pylons being fuel tanks only. Reduce max weapons to 10
considering that the first DA was the German one with tornado engines i dont think britain would be alone there…
Yeah, could go anyway, but a small part of me thinks they’d want to keep them some way unique and Britian usually draws the short straw
they’re gonna make the DAs truly unique… by making them unarmed ^^
Canon that jams realistically is what I was thinking
