Why don’t they fix the AMRAAM’s then, everyone knows they are reduced smoke same as AIM-9M but they (and the AIM-54C) retain high smoke motor plumes in-game. Are there any open reports, are the devs just unaware?

If so get a bug report submitted. The devs probably won’t do anything unless there’s a report in for it.

I still wanna compare the volumetric scan rates between top radars. It might be an issue that the scanned rate is fine but the scanned volume isnt great (for example too many bars or not enough total volume) and combined together makes the radar feel slow/bad.

Off the top of my head, the Rafale and Su-34 both scan CONSIDERABLY more sky in less time as an example, while other radar like the APG-70 seem to scan less sky but faster, which means they “feel” great IF you have them pointed in the right spot, but pointing them in the right spot is harder (not an issue in air RB, but is one in air SB)

Yep, planning on it, but was going to give a few days to see what work is done to fix it. Things like the massive ghosting issue I think has already been reported though

But -ESA radars are generally better than M-scan ones?

From eyeballing it, it has something like a 4 bar 11° TWS scan rn, which is a decent volume of sky, but 4 bars at ~60x2.7° 70°/s with a repeater on top and bottom means it takes ~4.3 seconds to complete a scan one way or update a target (likely why it was losing targets when refresh at 4 seconds). At over 8 seconds to return to neutral, i think its actually similar to the Su-27’s radar (50x10° at 4 bars, 2.5°/bar, not sure of the exact scan speed) and NOBODY likes the Su-27’s radar.

Yeah, definetly feel that bug as well and yeah, Priority mode is probably a top priority for them to model

Priority mode might make it keep targets properly updated better, i think thats what most ppl dont like about it, but seeing as I play sim, priority mode isnt the knly issue, and now that i mathed it out, i actually just dont want to play the EFT anymore.

The EFT and Su-27SM’s radars look to be extremely similar in volumetric scan rate, and the Su-27SM’s radar is a nightmare to use. Not only because it doesnt stick on targets properly, but also because it takes 74 years to find a target while they already have you locked and possibly have a missile in the air.

Less of a problem on the Su-27SM, since its missiles pull hard in offbore shots and as such it wants to pull ppl into WVR, but the Typhoon has bad missiles for close range/off-bore shots, and a bad radar for BVR.

I think I just ruined the Typhoon for myself and I havent even played it yet ffs…

So its 8.6 seconds to refresh top bar… when its currently set to keep track for 8 seconds.

Yup, can still lose a lock cuz its so dang slow lmao

Might be fixed going from 60 to 70°/ sec. But I still feel thats a tad low. But not a lot we can do about that

wait… no, first repeated scan of top bar is after 7.71 seconds. Which i dont think is enough given 8 sec fade time…
If it wasnt for that stupid bug. We would have refresh rate of 3.4-4.2 seconds on top bar, depoending where is enemy on that bar.

dang, i calculated with 70… its even worse jesus. So with 60°/s scan rate
First full refresh of top bar is 9!!! 9!!! seconds, while its storing data for 8. No wonder it loves to drop stuff. When it cant even finish it in time.

New ones are but 1st generation AESA radars were reported to be inferior in some ways to the CAPTUR-M

You have to do some calculations with period
Period of 1 means it does one cycle 1 time per second. The bigger the slower. For example:
Period of 1,5 means that it does 0,6 of the cycle per second, or that it does 40 cycles per minute.

Like what? Range? AWG-9 has greater range than the Su-34 PESA but which is the better radar in every other way?

Can we pls still keep the L/I-1?
like make it an Aim-9M Modification which gaves you the 9M and the 9L/I-1 so the player can chose what the he wants to use
Smoky sidewinder → 9L/I-1
No smoke → 9M

I wasnt sure if the period was 1 bar or what, none of the calcs i tried seemed to spit out the correct scan rate Flame was mentionning, so i just eyeballed it a bit.

In hindsight i only looked at the datamines when i woke up, so might not have been thinking straight.

Ill compare a few later unless someone beats me to it.
