Cheers
and i dont remember anything about our own HMS.
its HMSS(striker 1) across the board and soon Striker 2
might have confused it with the decoys. or maybe read it in the EAP book idk, ill figure it out later. ignore me for now im probably being senile again.
Its from the EAP book, apparently initially the UK wasn’t very interested in doing development for the HMD so Germany was going to make one as it was wanted on TKF-90, changed their minds and started testing on Tornado F.2 Tiara after Sweden expressed similar interest on Gripen.
Spoiler
Only half-senile I promise.
Dont mind him, he does that every now and then.
its already 40min, i am worried here
That’d be IPA3, not IPA2 (IPA2 is an Italian twin seater) which was the only aircraft to date operated by the German Air Force (WTD 61) with PIRATE installed. IPA3 is also a twin-seater.
It was used for Paveway and AMRAAM trials among other things - including the UK’s paveway’s trials.
The other two German planes with PIRATE are IPA7 (single seat) and IPA8 (twin seat). Both are currently retained by Airbus for P4E and ECRS development, but will probably pass on to WTD 61 in future because IPA3 is outdated.
Not a lot. I’m writing it while working on a project for Arma Reforger, so getting distracted 😅
He’s gonna stop now, and lose it all to respond to you.
oh hey we got 3 planes with IRST then IPA3, IPA7 and IPA8
fair enough xD
Yeah but they also don’t have guns, so it’s swings and roundabouts when it comes to basing the War Thunder plane on them.
I remember Gaijin saying in the posts for the WTD Tornado they had to search until they found one with a gun.
the wtd tornado was stupid either way, they should have gone with one that has guided armament at least
you realy sure about that one? because apparently germany just likes to put the covers on when training / not in use
sounds plausible as its probably the first thing to get axed if they were looking for a space to put instruments. its a lot of space too
shhhhh, leave my dream of the german super typhoon alone
Might be me but looks as if AMK kit covers the gun port up. Though as you said could just be a cover but brief search didn’t yield anything with the port open either.
If not that’s some precise German engineering.
the amk covering the cannon is a very good point, that one might be problematic
But i highly doubt they would leave it like that if it realy isnt right below the AMK
Not really, cause all aircraft will have equivalents to the Tranche 3/4 you’re suggesting gets added later.
Soviets will have Su-57 for their Tranche 3/AESA Rafale equivalent.
French will have AESA Rafale [whatever it’s called].
USA will have F-16 Block 70/F-15EX.
Japan will have F-15JSI/later F-2.
Sweden/Finland will have Gripen E.
Italy/Britain get Typhoons.
China gets whatever they made.
Israel whatever they got.
All getting equivalents [with WVR differences] to Tranche 3+.
And Meteor will likely be exclusive to stealth aircraft since that’s primarily what warranted its development.
Of course some of Typhoon Tranche 1 equivalents are already in War Thunder.
There are equivalents for every tech tree to fit the boom & zoom, and BVR meta going on right now.
Of course Typhoon is strong, as is many other aircraft.
Again might be me being senile, but if its just demonstrating, then they might not have bothered to re-add the port into the kit even more so if IPA7 doesn’t actually have the gun to begin with. As Airbus says, it is a conversion from a series production aircraft.
If as @Faster_Boiiiii says they modify all of the production lines to include AMK with P4E (pls Eurofighter) then I imagine that problem of there being no gun port would be fixed.
There has been plenty of talk on the use/or lack of use for the gun and its benefits, only reason it was kept for the UK was because it is required for balance and the counterweight offers nothing. But if it allowed for AMK it would be an easy choice.
