Yes.
Can you tell me what modifications this has made to the current Catcher M and what the modified Catcher M performance will look like?
I dont fully understand the changes from the datamine alone.
But, I think the changes will look something a bit like this
Buffs
- Should maintain locks better
- Much longer range (its currently bugged and stuck at 74km, so it is an increase, even when its being “nerfed”)
- Should find targets easier
Nerfs
- Scans a smaller area with each sweep.
Is this for all radars?
Yes, its for all 3 Typhoons
And what about the 70° scan rate mentioned by smin?
Not in this data mine, but doesnt mean it’s not coming in the next update.
As far as I understand, all Typhoons have a “smaller scan area with each sweep” and a reduced range for lock-on and detection. I can’t tell if the lock is better or if it finds targets more reliably.
Why the hell would they nerf the radar? like its already the worst top tier radar in the game, such a gaijin moment.
Incompetent that what it is
I discussed this with @Flame2512 the nerf to scan volume is likely due to the fact the beam itself was narrowed (angle half sensitivity dropped ~25%, so did the vertical scan volume). Had they not done this, there was possibly a chance the radars scan pattern would have “cracks” in it where it could miss a jet that was within the scan pattern.
That being said though, the CAPTOR-M irl has more bar options, such as a 6 bar option and an 8 bar option. At 6 bars it would scan slightly more vertical area than current. 6 bars would suck atm though because of the incorrect scan patterns currently used in-game. Until those are fixed, high bar counts are a disadvantage.
It hasn’t been nerfed… The MPRF had a hard cap at 74km. So the 300km was meaningless. It now works properly.
MPRF is now 80-150km
HPRF is now 150-200km
LPRF is now 200km
Detection to track is alot quicker, range much greater, returns are stronger as well, HMD track is much more responsive (almost feels instant now).
That good to hear, i was worried that we’d take the vertical scan volume nerf and not get a whole lot in return for it beyond the radar working a bit better. Glad to hear the fix was substantial. The loss of scan volume still hurts tho :(
Volume-wise it looks exactly the same its barely noticeable.
I just noticed, where is the ground search radar where Smin said we would get it soon
That can’t be possible, it lost around ~26% of its vertical scan volume. It physically cannot be exactly the same.
You cant drop the vertical scan volume from 11.4 deg down to 8.4 deg and say its barely noticeable.
Tried to get the top bar to the edge of the sweep, but the area is barely different at all. So we’ve not lost any volume to worry about.
4 bar medium;
2 bar narrow;
Spoiler
2 bar wide
