Enough. Nerf the Gepard family

The whole 3.0 spread of battle ranges from 7.3-9.3, and above, is ruined by these things. And I mean ruined. They are first-spawned multiple times per match, every match, and zoomed into the battlefield with the strongest AT capability in the game.

Complete removal of APDS and AP belts. HE/HEI only. They’d probably still rack up kills with the stupid overpressure mechanics allowing 35mm HE to overpressure an Obj 279’s UFP(happened), but these vehicles are fundamentally anti-aircraft and should never, ever be the potent tank killers that they currently are.

I don’t care about ‘accuracy’ or ‘realism’ or if they had these belts or some AT potential in real life. This is a game, and while accuracy should be maintained as far as possible, never at the expense of everybody else’s enjoyment. As it stands, 7.3/8.3+ is being absolutely ruined by the Gepard tree and similar vehicles. It is egregious that they have been allowed to be rampant for so long.

I am not an advocate for artificially nerfing/altering historical aspects of vehicles, but this is the one and only exception. HE belts only for these 35mm SPAA. All other SPAA like the Falcon, ZSU, milk trucks etc can keep their HVAP and APHE - they’re nowhere near as problematic.

Between this and the BMPT(nerfed or not), it’s a surprise anyone actually plays battle ratings above 6.7 anymore. I personally have been dissuaded from grinding any tree to higher tiers for this very reason, and I won’t be alone.

+1 remove all APHE rounds and replace it with HEVT anti air rounds it’s really not fun to use heavy tanks / medium tank at 8.0+ br because it’s very bad experiences to face AA with APHE they over pressure so fast and ruin game 😿

i really hope mr snail fix this problem AA are so mean at 8.0+ br.

say that to the 9.3 T-72A/MBT-70/Chieftains/Olifants/a huge etc with many other tanks that get one shotted by it’s spam.

i face a XM246 in the T-62M-1 and they manage to kill me frontally through artificial/0.00000000001% prob of hitting weakspots.

BMPT still way more annoying and ugly in my opinion but just buff russia

ap? yes
apds? not really, they should have a limited way to defend themselves

hell no screw this thing

HE only belts make them quite useless in general, as SIDAM already is even though SIDAM can unlock a 40 rd belt of apds, it’s not a good solution

Oh, this is a post about Gepards being used as tank-destroyers, poorly mind you.
Gepards are far worse than all 8.3 MBTs in the game.
If you’re dying to Gepards, you would’ve died to 8.3 MBTs 2 times over.

as all other SPAAs ingame yet ingame the only good SPAA is that SPAA that can protect itself.

so they fly to 9.3+, leaving your heavy and medium tanks to be protected with… m163? Kugelblitz? Good luck getting slapped with everything the air has to offer, good job.

Me when the Falcon’s SAPHEI does more funny then any 35mm SPAA belt in the game

Literally this.

Mfers be complaining they got a bs-penetration when they let a tank w/ leopard 1 mobility shoot them first and for 2-3seconds, usually not even turning their guns towards them.

Literally any mbt, light-tank or whatever else with medium-calibre APFSDS and/or a regular Tank gun (85mm+) kills them in that situation more reliably than a 30/35mm SPAA.

The main reason people complain about it as much is because they’re already looking for an excuse on why they died (they misplayed, mispositioned, whiffed etc. But we all know it could never be their fault, right?)
and said SPAA’s tend to give them a funny killcam more often than others.

Aswell as ofc the classic “its a spaa, it should be a free kill that cant fight back whatsoever” strawman argument people like pulling here.

Not like there was a reason for Gun-based SPAA’s to feature mixed AP- (-CI(-T) / -HEI(-T), etc.) & HEI belts and/or have additional belts for sub-calibre AP ammunition.

Surely they were designed to just go die without being able to defend themselves whenever they face anything that isnt airborne.

Surely the German engineers weren’t thinking of self defence against armoured targets when they added the extra 40-belt chamber for APDS rounds.
