Enlisted just announced a update that lets you test drive any weapon and viehicle, why can't war thunder do the same?

Its not hurtfull to making players grind, you can be sure for that, and it only helps. Encourages player to grind for the sake of getting that viehicle they strive for. I mean come on, if someone really wants to test drive a viehicle they will use a outside program to make a custom mission. Why not make it easier. Cmoon

They want you to be playing and dying to undertiered premiums instead of having fun in test drives lmao

There is a big dilemma here. It may also have the exact opposite result.

When I first started WT in 2013, maybe it was just because I was much younger, but there was a real sense of magic associated with getting your hands on a jet for the first time.

I remember there were custom missions, specifically I recall one’s for Mig15Bis, Me262c & Me163. Nothing more than glorified test drives, and I spent countless hours playing them, just flying around and enjoying the vehicles.

By the time I actually reached my first jets (Vampire / Venom), the magic was sort of gone already. They were no longer the be all end all in my mind they once were. Didn’t really feel as special anymore. Even today, a decade later, when I unlock new top tiers, that magic isn’t there anymore. It’s just consume new thing.

I guess what I’m saying is, I don’t think it’s worth spoiling the magic by being able to test drive everything. That urge to actually reach, play and experience the top things is a huge motivator for the grind. Try and cling onto it as long as you can.

This is just speaking for yourself. I am absolutely sure there are a lot of people that would prefer to have the ability to see what they will get at the end of the grind… the grind that often takes hundreds of hours. It’s also worth mentioning you can still have your playstyle you mentioned by just not test driving things ahead of time, but the other guy can’t get what he wants currently.

Of course. Forums are meant for voicing subjective opinions.

Everyone is welcome to disagree with me.

I am just saying your opinion is only benefiting your own experience and isn’t considering others.

I mean, yeah.

The whole comment was phrased from the offset as a personal, subjective anecdote lol.

Was just offering a differing perspective to the topic.

Premiums are worse than tech tree vehicles.

Many cases where this is not true.

Enlisted got the cooler devs despite having the lower IQ players somehow

Here’s an argument for you:

How a plane’s cockpit looks and feels is pretty significant, especially as a new player, for picking your plane/nation for flying air sim.

It sucks to grind out a plane you thought looked and sounded awesome only to learn it has very annoying frames blocking your vision that with your present set-up are very difficult to work around. VR/head tracking can help you move your head to look around such dead zones, raw MNK or HOTAS set ups do not even if you get decent at using “Free-look.”

Therefore, being able to check out the cockpit views of planes before wasting potentially dozens of hours (especially if you solely play air sim with its slower gains) grinding out a plane only to struggle to use it due to cockpit visibility would make a significant difference.

I actually made a suggestion a few months back to at least let is go into cockpit view when previewing planes, if outright testflight isn’t allowed.

That’s all fair and valid. Don’t disagree with any of it.

Naah…
even though we have some prems which are worse than tech tree

  • F-4J(UK) which have only bad points of F-4J and F-4K/M(Brit Phantoms) might be example

but usually, Prems are copy-pasted versions of regular tech tree vehicles (With better SL rewarding)

  • Cobra King and M4A3E2(75)
  • P40 Leonchello and P40

and some of the premiums are even better than regular tech tree

  • M4A4 1st PTG which provides useful 50cal which are not provided on norm M4A4(CN)
