Why is these even an objective? This encourages passive useless gameplay that usually results in no bases, a wasted player slot, and a free kill for the enemy.
As a matter of a fact, either add 20 bases to each air RB match or get rid of them entirely because I might start tweaking if i see another team of fighters bombing bases and only 2 people on my team getting any kills.
Battlepass tasks in general need a massive overheaul, especially with “Severe Damage” having been added (Flew a 1 hour air sim match, couldn’t complete the “get assists” despite aggressively engaging every air supremacy point. Did get a good few kills though). There should probably be something like
“Do the battlepass task OR earn 10/20K score across all game modes in whatever combination you like.”
Gaijin’s poor attempt to say ‘bombers serve a purpose’
Objective to destroy 32 ground or naval units in AAB are the same shit. Especially if you always got domination maps instead of assault.
Real
they should make the next update about improving gameplay quality
Funny that I never use a bomber to get this task.
You might be aware of the fact that daily, special and BP tasks in Air RB (your screenshot) are created to steer player activities and serve multiple purposes which might not be in line with your expectations of how the game should be played.
- Whilst i agree with the non-existent usefulness of bombing respawning bases in Air RB (mainly due to missing game impact) you might consider that gaijin created this option in order to allow a hell of rookie players to play the game and this game mode.
- Actually they enforce this behaviour by rewarding a base kill with 3 times the amount of RP compared to a player kill in Air RB.
As you are obviously a fighter main you might wonder why such tasks exist.
Your screenshot shows a special task for Air RB which gives 5 points for the BP progress. The daily tasks are 1 and 6 base kills which also encourages players to perform them.
As soon as you realize that gaijin has created a symbiotic circle by:
- Allowing rookie players to participate in Air RB with farming PvE (bases and ai) without the necessary experience in PvP combat
and - Therefore providing PvP players rather easy targets due to the lack of experience of PvE players
…this decision makes from gaijin’s pov a hell of sense as technically seen they cater both fractions within the player base.
So technically seen it doesn’t matter if you play prop BRs or jet BRs in Air RB - your chances to win depend mostly on the number / proportion of PvE vs PvP players in both teams.
Even as i share your view regarding the severe impact of this strategy regarding game play: The guys strapping bombs under their premium fighter jet or strike aircraft are the main target group and income source of gaijin and pay this party. Gaijin has no economic interest to change this as long as they sell high price premium pixels like sliced bread…
Have a good one!
See above - you are imho on the wrong track as the OP refers to high tiers in which the plane class “bombers” is (almost) absent.
Technically seen the evidence that bombers at prop BRs (where the majority is assigned) are just food can be seen by how fighter tasks are structured:
1 bomber kill - easy daily
2 bomber kills - advanced daily
8 bomber kills - special task
You need 27 fighter kills for a special task…whilst the skill floor for getting fighter kills is way higher; the steering of players by these tasks is obvious.
So bombers actually fulfill a purpose - to be targets for fighters…
Have a good one!
…are designed to fulfil other (but similar) purposes:
If you consider that the BP challenges are aimed to:
a) encourage players to play more
b) encourage players to play more recklessly in order to complete them
c) encourage players to play more Nations/TTs/Air-Ground-Naval modes
d) encourage players to spend real money to have a chance to complete them
…you might realize that they are well designed to fulfill these goals.
Link.
Have a good one!
Edit: Replaced 30 with 27 fighter kills as goal for a special task.
ARB is dead. It´s a 10 year old betatest gamemode, that only devolved with arcade mechanics over time. Come to SB and have fun with the rest of us.
If ARB (and the rest of the gamemodes to be fair) were properly designed bombers and strike aircraft would actually serve some purpose.
If the only purpose of bombers is to fighter food then they are useless.
You said it yourself. More bombers you have on your team higher chances are you are going to lose.
So how is playing a bomber not “useless gameplay”?
how does this encourage passive play when all the challenge is asking you to do is kill 6 bases, you coping that bombers exist still? get over it please
No thanks, I enjoy sim on occasion but it has far more issues than air RB
The problem is people insulting people who play bombers and asking silly ass questions like “why are there tasks that have you play bombers” instead of trying to suggest to gaijin ways to fix them or at least just having a constructive take on it even if you dont think gaijin will fix anything. The “fighter jockeys” of WT are loud and obnoxious with their craving to make the game TDM with zero objectives.
It’s not like we haven’t tried. Ways to improve bombers and ARB overall pop up quite often on the forums and are often discussed by content creators but they never go anywhere.
Since I started playing only changes to ARB were increased map size (makes sense because of weapons used), removal of bomber air spawn (at higher ranks), increase of bomb base respawn timer from 30 secs to 5 mins and forward airfields. Two of these straight up nerf bombers, as if they weren’t already the worst class to play.
Forgot to add they added the option for smaller matches. They added that as well.
Yeah none of this excuses acting like playing bombers is some massive offense when its just playing a vehicle that exists.
I can see how it is frustrating. A few days ago I played a game that ended up in a 2v2. Me and my teammate (in a an F-15J(M)) are the only ones left and are rearming. Instead of helping me win the 2v2 they took a full load of bombs, went on to bomb and destroy AI along the way.
It is very easy to hate people playing bombers.
F-15E /=/ Bomber and even then there are valid reasons to bomb in stuff like that such as stock grinds or even just because you want to, it really isnt that difficult to understand. You’re not complaining about a bomber you’re complaining about bad teamwork.
The point is bombers don’t contribute anything. There is no “good teamwork” with a bomber. The thing that comes closest is using them as bait. A fighter is always more useful than a bomber. Is it really difficult to understand that people hate them because when they see 6 bombers (or “bombers”) in their team they see 6 useless planes? Because some BR ranges are dominated with them and if you get unlucky to get them on your team it’s an automatic loss almost every single time.
They are dead weight and people will treat them as such until Gaijin improves gamemodes.
Cool, stop blaming the players and daily tasks and start advocating heavily for improvements to the current gamemodes to better facilitate multiple playstyles and plane types.
