Not gonna lie, I think it wouldn’t even be worth it when youre supposed to compete with medium ranged IR SAMs and ARH SAMs that go 5 times the distance or more than the IRIS-T SLS. A completely different system would be a better addition than trying to improve on one thats been dead since its arrival.
It can’t hit anything at 10km, any plane with any amount of speed or anything that turns will be completely untouched by the EldE, gaijin nerfed the IRIS-T before they were even added, they are terrible and can’t even reach the manufacturers public info
I think the german SLM works fine when you take into account that you don’t receive any warning that a missile is coming for you unless your jet has a MAW system. But the SLS being so bad was to be expected. Its a missile thats designed to be fired from moving aircraft at higher altitude where they would reach higher speeds and make them more deadly. If you have the same missile fired from a stationary position on the ground then of course you can expect it to work effectively only in a small radius.
I never said anything about the German SLM, we all know how broken/OP it is currently, I was talking about the swedish EldE 98, also, it’s speed is hard capped at mach 2, compared to the mach 3 of irl, as well as being capped at 50g compared to the 60+ of irl.
It was added horribly into the game and desperately needs a rework
especially now that the radar is already in the game it would be very nice to see

Even if it does ever happen it will still remain the worst system as the RB98 missile just can’t compete against the german IRIS-T SLM, let alone the newer missile systems like the Buk, Sky sabre and SAMP/T. The only thing we can hope for is if they actually give Sweden the SLM since they recently ordered several units.

Tbf strv 122 on launch was more balanced, only DM33 and about 15k sl each. Nowadays its more about gaijin adding Leos Germany needs instead of neat ones like the PSO. Personally id rather see the Leo Revolution of the 2A8 or something but thats cause im biased towards the best looking Leo made lol.
Gimme 5 elde launchers and 1 of them can have the radar mounted 🙏 trust me gaijoob

it would give you more missles which is always nice, and a better radar also helps but yeah would still not be in the top
it does have more survivability than most sams due to having smokes though, and its better than most sams at close range

Sadly it doesnt get DL, thats why the missile and this whole system sucks in general compared to any other. Youre the only missile SPAA at high tier that cant send datalink updates to your missile mid flight. Thats where the NOMADS system has the advantage with its AIM-9X. Sometimes I wonder why the elde was ever added when it was obvious its gonna be inferior to the NOMADS in every single way.
Simply put, your missile either has an IR lock on a target or it doesnt and it just tries to find something based on the aircrafts last known position, also know as IOG.
The IRIS-T missile on the Elde does not have Datalink to make mid flight updates on its target (aka the radar cannot tell the missile where to look or go after launching) so youre basically sending your missile with only one piece of information and that is the last known postioion and heading. Thats why you should always fire your missile only if you have a full lock (to be fair you shouldnt be playing the Elde at all)
Firing your missile before lock on with the Elde is a waste since IOG performs very poorly and if your target is changing directions its most likely not finding it.
True, forgot he talked about the Elde which has sadly only the SLS
Still waiting on my bug report for the NOMADS to get IRIS-T it was accepted but nothing has been added, kinda like the A2G IRIS-T for the Norsk F16 lol
