They really need to take more care though and I forsee the adding of Gen 5s and IIR missiles becoming the exact same poop show.

if only swedes decided to pick different platform for EldE, one that is known for its ability to traverse harsh terrain like that of a swedens wilderness and was selected by multiple countries to act as transport for terrains where all other ground vehicles fail.

Something I despise is the multi-vehicle SAMs. Not because of what could be added, but for them literally being multi-vehicle. I’m awful at micro managing, and I would rather have the EldE 98 as a single vehicle like how it is now. It’s obvious that sometime (no idea when) in the future the function for articulating vehicles will be added, so less of an issue there.
If anything the “squeeze in a buff” thing needs to happen to the vehicle so it gets IRIS-T Block 2s. This would solve the problem of them not seeing anything but aircraft and a very limited number of munitions right after launch since the Block 2 has datalink for mid-course updating like how the Aim-9X does on the CLAWS.
If the SAM system mentioned in the rework is added, apparently there’s a tri-pod mounted optic with a few things on it for when the radar isn’t available, making the launchers not useless if the radar vehicle was destroyed. Though the system should be added after the existing EldE 98, like with what happened to the Type 81(C). Especially since the EldE 98 actually exists in real life.
I understand, to be fair I dont find juggling between 3 vehicles easy too but its logical to me that it would be better to have a system with multiple launchers than just one (kinda how you compared the standalone type 81 and the tan-sam kai radar and launcher system). The idea of having block 2 IRIS-Ts doesnt seem too far fetched but Im not sure how likely they will make such a change.
But yeah I guess we can expect either something along the lines of a multi system RBS 98 or something completely different thats not even of swedish origin. Kinda how the previous top tier swedish SPAA ItO wasnt even a swedish vehicle but finnish. So theres quite a few things to pick from when you consider that we have Norway, Denmark and Finland as potential support in this matter.

So the new update doesn’t bring anything new for swedish anti air (who whould have thought) but at least they did add the sky sabre which uses SAABs Giraffe AMB radar system. It would be cool if we could get one for sweden too (not like it was made by a swedish company). It would be very much the same thing but on a different truck I guess.

Next update won’t fix the EldE 98 and will make it even more irrelevant, it can barely reach 5km and russia is getting something that can reach 70km?!?

Oh it can reach ranges up to around 10km, what makes it one of the worst is the fact that it cannot receive any datalink updates and has a very limited ammo count on top of having such a low range.
I guess what will they do is just like the type 81, give a copy (fixed) version and increase your grind time…
Not gonna lie, I think it wouldn’t even be worth it when youre supposed to compete with medium ranged IR SAMs and ARH SAMs that go 5 times the distance or more than the IRIS-T SLS. A completely different system would be a better addition than trying to improve on one thats been dead since its arrival.
It can’t hit anything at 10km, any plane with any amount of speed or anything that turns will be completely untouched by the EldE, gaijin nerfed the IRIS-T before they were even added, they are terrible and can’t even reach the manufacturers public info
I think the german SLM works fine when you take into account that you don’t receive any warning that a missile is coming for you unless your jet has a MAW system. But the SLS being so bad was to be expected. Its a missile thats designed to be fired from moving aircraft at higher altitude where they would reach higher speeds and make them more deadly. If you have the same missile fired from a stationary position on the ground then of course you can expect it to work effectively only in a small radius.
I never said anything about the German SLM, we all know how broken/OP it is currently, I was talking about the swedish EldE 98, also, it’s speed is hard capped at mach 2, compared to the mach 3 of irl, as well as being capped at 50g compared to the 60+ of irl.
It was added horribly into the game and desperately needs a rework
especially now that the radar is already in the game it would be very nice to see

Even if it does ever happen it will still remain the worst system as the RB98 missile just can’t compete against the german IRIS-T SLM, let alone the newer missile systems like the Buk, Sky sabre and SAMP/T. The only thing we can hope for is if they actually give Sweden the SLM since they recently ordered several units.

Tbf strv 122 on launch was more balanced, only DM33 and about 15k sl each. Nowadays its more about gaijin adding Leos Germany needs instead of neat ones like the PSO. Personally id rather see the Leo Revolution of the 2A8 or something but thats cause im biased towards the best looking Leo made lol.
Gimme 5 elde launchers and 1 of them can have the radar mounted 🙏 trust me gaijoob

it would give you more missles which is always nice, and a better radar also helps but yeah would still not be in the top
it does have more survivability than most sams due to having smokes though, and its better than most sams at close range
