Type 81 performs well because it doesn’t have a radar and is blind as a bat, which also means it doesn’t get detected by planes so it survives more.
Plus unlike the Pantsir it has zero means to defend itself, which means the Pantsir can go on the offensive with it’s 30mm and get killed whilst the Type 81 just sits around the entire match hoping for a target.
Whats the point to introduce a new system with actually less range than what we have ingame? Gajin should better make it right, the game won’t carry over another patch cycle with unchecked KH-38MT jets.
That does not really matter. A new “top tier” SPAA is being added and it is less capable than existing systems and effectively does nothing to counter Kh-38MTs or compete with the Pantsir. It could, if it gets better missiles. But not as is.
the difference is that ito needs to keep the launcher pointing towards the target the whole time and the missle is not realy agile beyond 8km
IRIS-T is a fire and forget missle and it is told to be faster and more agile
Considering how potent IRIS-Ts are supposed to be as IR missiles this anti-air system should be at least on par with the pantsir when it comes to close range engagements. However, I do expect it to be better.
I’m sure the radar of the EldE 98 can be turned off.
Sure, there’s many reasons. But system performance is apparently not just measured by what people that really know what they’re doing can achieve with it. Systems like the Type 81 and now IRIS-T SLS are absolutely braindead to use and work well against the vast majority of CAS which also happens to be flown by people that don’t really know what they’re doing.
We know they’re still working on multi vehicle radar AA, so that will probably be added for longer range anti air duty in a couple patches.
That’s such a stupid point to make. The Pantsir (all current radar SPAA, really) can very easily be dodged and loses track when a target breaks line of sight. The IRIS-T will hit whatever it can kinematically reach.
It should be a lot better. The Type 81 already is, really. At close to medium ranges the radar missiles just don’t have the pull and properly leading is very difficult to impossible too.
The Pantsir S1 doesn’t reach near 20 km with it’s missiles… I’ve played it a lot lately, and it’s VERY good, don’t get me wrong, but 20km is fantasy numbers.
I get semi-reliable hits at like 13-14km and VERY good hit rate at 12km or lower. Anything above 15km and a slight turn from the enemy makes the missile do snail maneuvers and overshoot drastically.
Though this is of topic, send me a PM if you want to talk about the Pantsir S1.
