except not really, because it’s at 60°, and funnily enough it would result in a similar pen at 0m, 0°
I think Gaijin uses the Lenz-Odemat formula for APFSDS, so if they found reliable sources regarding the rod, my guess is it’s going to be higher

I swear it was at 40, might be my brain going lmao
Yeah, but unfortunately iirc the only good data is the US testing on older shot. I think when entered gave something like 166mm? Might be miss remembering. We’ll have to wait for the dev server IG
Yes
Then the round was lenghtened by something like ~30mm and the rod went from 450g to 550g if memory serves ?
That’s where the high estimate of 192mm comes from
I mean there’s certainly room in the case for that. Would be nice.
Now I gotta stop being lazy a grind out French top tier
AMX-30B2s and 10s may seem scary to play, but if you play them like an opportunistic rat they are fantastic
32 is pain, 40 is pain but faster
Leclerc is the average joe (and it’s also fast)
Ive been a fan of the AMX-13s from the uh other tank game, and I like 6x6s in general, so Ive stopped my French grind at the AMX-10RC :/
understandable, they are somewhat iconic imo
Back to Jaguar, the timing is somewhat perfact i’d say :
Quick history : there is basically 3 standards of Jaguar :
R1 (2020-2024) : this one suffered from youth problems, and wasn’t stabilized due to software issue in the fire controls
R2 (2024-2025) : basically fixed the issue on R1, with retro compatibility of course
R3 (2025 onwards) : Akeron MP introduction. While the missile has already been tested multiple times on the vehicle, it’s supposed to enter service at the end of the current year (talk of timing)
The LWS and Pilar V acoustic detector are removable, and sometimes not present on the vehicle (as seen on the photo of the flipped one), because they are plug & play.
Afaik they want to introduce Diamant APS starting from 2027
Oh it would be really nice.
A gunshot detector probably wouldn’t be added; way too much coding (and debugging) for a minimal number of vehicles. Plus, it would be kind of useless for War Thunder
Agreed.
In fact, i don’t think any other vehicle currently possesses such ability
Debatable
Knowing what type of gun is around you is not a small advantage
Would basically act like a RWR, but instead of activating when there is a radar emission, it would trigger when a gun is fired, and instead of the aircraft’s name, it would display “120” for a 120mm, 125, 105, 90, etc
There was a picture in the initial suggestion thread :
According to mulatu on a conversation I had about the Akeron, the R2 actually already features AKERON to some limited degrees, while R3 enables the full potential of the missile including NLOS capabilities.
It is also to note that most of the differences between the « variants » are purely software based, so it’s not probable we’ll get a Jaguar without Axeront
Agreed, i don’t think they’ll skip Akeron either, one because it’s easy to implement, and 2 because R3 might come out before the December patch anyway
Besides, tested only is usually enough for them
Not only that, since there is no physical difference between a R1 and R3, according to gaijin’s policy, the jaguar would always be able to come with the Akeron, since they usually work on physical capability to carry weapons, not on actual service usage. The best example being the Su27 double rack central missiles, as well as the 8 MICA on French F3R
It could be implemented to where it shows on the minimap the vehicle that fired a shot.
Yeah, regarding the Pilar V, small reminder that most battles are fought in small arenas where you can hear every shot taken, by allies, by ennemies, by everyone, constantly. I think in a real situation, the device would be saturated and not very useful either. Remember this is a recon vehicle meant to stay hidden. Pilar V makes sense in a real life battlefield where a shot can mean you’ve been made. In this game… well.
You are forgetting 2 main things :
IRL the jaguar can be under heavy small arms fire or in a conflict area with lots of suppressive fire. This would be just as overwhelming as war thunder’s environment. This is why Pilar V advertises the capability of differentiating ally fire, from enemy fire coming towards it and from enemy fire going towards other allies.
A reasonable argument… we’ll see what Gaijin’s take on it. 90% chance they’ll completely ignore it, with all that said.
Agree on the 32 but the 40 is absolute peak. No armour but somehow has better mobility than the vextra. Absolute speed demon.
fair
to be honest i haven’t touched 40 in a while
I got my first nuke I actually dropped in that thing. The only thing it lacks IMO is armour. But that is just the fate of all 30 series derivatives.
Noe back onto topic. Cannot wait for the jaguar.
