EBRC Jaguar

The EBRC Jaguar (Engin Blindé de Reconnaissance et de Combat) is a state-of-the-art six-wheel armored fighting vehicle developed for the French army. It is designed for armored reconnaissance and combat, particularly in complex environments like urban and mountainous areas.

Here’s a breakdown of its key features:

Purpose and Role

  • Armored Reconnaissance: Its primary mission is to get close to the enemy, gather intelligence, and operate discreetly.
  • Combat Vehicle: It’s also a formidable combat platform, capable of supporting ground troops and engaging a variety of targets.
  • Successor: It is intended to replace several aging vehicles in the French Army, including the AMX-10 RC, ERC 90 Sagaie, and VAB HOT.
  • SCORPION Program: The Jaguar is a crucial part of the French SCORPION program, which aims to modernize the army’s land forces with a networked, high-tech capability.

Key Specifications and Characteristics

  • Crew: 3 (driver, gunner, and commander).
  • Dimensions: Approximately 7.8 meters long (including the cannon), 2.99 meters wide, and 2.8 meters tall.
  • Weight: Around 25 tons.
  • Mobility:
    • Engine: A militarized Volvo D11 6-cylinder in-line turbodiesel engine with 500 hp.
    • Speed: Maximum road speed of 90 km/h.
    • Maneuverability: Features a 6x6 drive, independent running gears, and rear steering for exceptional agility.
    • All-Terrain Capability: Equipped with a variable ground clearance system and tire pressure variation, allowing it to navigate diverse terrain, including fording water up to 1.2 meters deep.
  • Protection:
    • Armor: It has STANAG 4569 Level 4 armor as a standard, providing protection against 14.5 mm armor-piercing ammunition, artillery shell fragments, and mine blasts. It can be fitted with additional modular armor kits.
    • Countermeasures: The vehicle includes a laser warning receiver, missile detection system, and a barrage jammer. It is also protected against nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) threats.
  • Armament:
    • Main Weapon: A 40mm CTAS (Cased Telescoped Armament System) autocannon. This cannon can fire a variety of ammunition types, including armor-piercing and airburst rounds, and has a rate of fire of up to 200 rounds per minute.
    • Anti-Tank Missiles: Two launchers for the MMP (Missile Moyenne Portée) medium-range anti-tank missile. These are fire-and-forget missiles with a range of over 4,000 meters and the ability to defeat modern reactive armor.
    • Secondary Weapon: A remote weapon station mounted on top of the turret, armed with a 7.62mm machine gun.
  • Electronics and Sensors:
    • Optics: Equipped with advanced day/night and thermal sights for the commander and gunner, with a laser rangefinder and automatic target detection and tracking.
    • Networked Systems: It is integrated into the French Army’s new-generation command and control systems (SICS), allowing it to share real-time information with other platforms.

It is indeed quite detailed… As long as you can speak French. Some english subtitles would be useful.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t give the option to add English subtitles. But yes, a LOT of info. Recoil of the 40mm gun (44mm), shooting modes (one shot, burst of 3, full auto), commander and gunner thermals, turret rotation, gun depression, etc.

would be awesome, an actual high tier light tank for France.
The gun would be really potent, around the same performance as the top round of the CV9040C.
The Akeron ATGM, plus reloads should also come in handy.

Would love to see this get added to the game. France has always had a strong presence in the armored vehicles industry throughout history, that should better reflected in WT by adding vehicles like this

Im still waiting for the AMX-13 based self propelled howitzers like the 105mm AMX Mk 61 & 155mm Mk63 F3

Do you think Gaijin will release it in the near future or is it too modern and ahead of its time for War Thunder ?

That’s up to Gaijin, really… technically, if they limit themselves to the features already in game, no, it wouldn’t be too modern… it would simply be a fast light vehicle with an autocannon and F&F missiles, like several others already in the game.

If that’s the case though, a lot of real life features, especialy in the optronic department, would be missing.

Gaijin it is now three years France has no high tier IFV you have Spikes modeled Gaijin add it to the game

There were some datamine circulating around lately indicating that the CTA 40 Gun was gonna be implemented in the game. Even if it isn’t the EBRC, its implementation is on the right track, and we may see it sooner or later.

Small article (in french) regarding the development of the proximity fuzed airburst ammunition KE-AB

It seems the development was split between a light version (KE-AB P33, for 330 grams of pellets) and a heavy version (KE-AB P66, 660 grams of pellets)

As far as i understand the first one is for export for now, and compatible with the jaguar gun, while the second one is specifically made for the rapidfire being currently developped.

KE AB P33 is said to have a max 3000m engagement range and is designed with self defense against drones in mind, while P66 can engage manned or unmanned aircraft and cruise missiles up to 4000m.

P33 has reached the TRL6 step while P66 is TRL5, with full scale production starting in 2027 and 2028 respectively.

If the Jaguar comes before, i suppose it could still get its chronometric shell (GPR-AB-T) for air targets, although it would be a bit less efficient ?

Depends

A fully realistic Jaguar would have an edge in terms of awareness compared to the rest, because of Pilar V especially

CTA is a boosted 40mm gun, so acceptable
F&F Akeron could also come as its equivalent (spike) is already in game

Armor and protection wise it’s nothing stellar, so no issue

LWS is already a feature in game

Basically the 2 only questionnable features is the ability to pin point gun shot types, heading and distance with Pilar V, and the NLOS capability of Akeron

Just realised the excellent suggestion that was passed for consideration a while ago still isn’t mentioned here. If this vehicle is ever added, this discussion will surely regroup all the research and debates about balance, so may as well start on solid bases ; might not even be a bad idea to add it to the main post @SHARKZ :
