Early BR CAS Helicopters really need some love

In a world of 3km or whatever invisible brrrt rounds gepard
In a world of slight 7.7mm gunfire in your helicopter = ‘‘avionics damaged’’
In a world of slow MCLOS/SACLOS missiles that need constant lock on moving targets while also flying and dodging bullets and watching out for enemy jets.
In a world where jets can just camp near the first helicopter base for easy kills

It took me near 1.5 months just to get the first tier of upgrades on my swedish helicopter.
And it’s not like I have much choice in the matter.

It’s just not very fun. Early helicopters are not fun , yet I still take them because I want to get better at it.

Gaijin can do so much better, atleast on early helicopter side, I know that some 9.0+br ones are busted ,especially premium ones, but that doesn’t have to be the case for early BR.

You know that you can grind that in an evening in Heli-PVE battles?

on paper it should work, it doesn’t it takes a long time, the map is too big and you don’t get much of it .

problem is there’s always someone with better equipment and faster than you so by the time you get to the objectives it’s already taken.

trust me,i tried it.

3.5km guided missiles VS gun SPAA…
Truly balanced

The first helicopters in particular are really fun.

I love sneaking up under the radar with my BO105 and briefly taking out an opponent from the flank and then sneaking back to the next position.

That’s just not possible with the late helicopters.

I tried it too. And it works just fine once you learn how to do it.

It is a perfect environment for boosters, as you can get the full 30 min or use multiple charges. You can respawn and your team always wins.
The map isn’t too big. The swedish entry is a licenced Huey which takes about 5 min to cross the whole map N to S.
Other players may be better, but you want someone to kill the SPAA for you anyway. I spaded the Aluette in that mode and that was quite OK. And that one is slower.

You can always just wait a while, until most players quit. Then you can have the map to yourself or 1-2 other players.

You picked just about the worst heli tree though. You can also take your chopper to tank assault and grind there.

3.5 km is the maximum range of SS.11. To even achieve that range, your helicopter needs to be moving at high speed (>150 km/h). The guaranteed launch range is 3 km. 3.5 km launches take incredible skill due to the need to slow the extremely fast helicopter down shortly after launching the ATGM, WHILE GUIDING IT.

It is an incredible challenge maneuvering to slow down, while keeping the target within the tiny gimbal limits, while also dodging extremely accurate AA fire. Else, you risk flying at your top speed directly at the SPAA. Average launch range, even for skilled players, is less than 3km.

Let’s not forget, gun SPAA such as Gepard and company are entirely capable and effective at knocking down targets at that range. Also, 3.5km is the highest you will get… Most helicopters around this BR have lower ranges, often 3 km or even lower. That is, if they even have guided weaponry at all!

In my personal experience, most helicopters 9.0 and below are easy to destroy using gun SPAA. Even most skilled helicopter players can’t overcome the tried-and-true shoot and hide tactic. Due to the low velocity of early ATGMs.

Also forgetting the Japanese UH-1B without a rocket ballistic computer, and the AH-1G as well.

I hope you are not talking about Heli-PVE?

This is honestly a very frustrating feature.

I am talking about ground realistic battles, although this applies in helicopter enduring confrontation as well. The main difference is the accuracy and prediction of the Gepard in Heli EC is much superior than average player’s skills playing such AA. But, in principle, the same imbalance often applies…

Gepard is never hitting you from that far out if you don’t hover.

Fighting against WWII thank and still crying “it’s not easy” playing is 3, is 4m or maus and getting destroyed by helicopter is very fun you know.
