Hello, I would like to suggest an update to War Thunder’s grass and flower, introducing a more dynamic and immersive vegetation model with new animations and destruction effects.
Grass / Flowers in game :
In War Thunder, the existing grass and flower system feels outdated compared to modern graphical standards. Vegetation often appears flat, with limited texture detail and repetitive patterns that reduce immersion. When fire spreads across the battlefield, the effect is represented by a generic overlay rather than plants themselves burning or reacting, which makes the destruction feel disconnected from the environment.
Proposed Improvements (New System)
Visual Upgrade: Richer textures, varied plant types, and natural movement in wind.
Dynamic Fire Animations: Grass and flowers burn with their own animations, shrinking, blackening, and turning to ash.
Explosion Interaction: Bombs and artillery flatten or scorch vegetation with short destruction animations.
Vehicle Tracks: Tanks and trucks bend or crush grass with visible animations
Environmental Variety: Different vegetation types (tall grass, flowers, bushes) react uniquely to fire, explosions, and movement.

Why New is Better?
The proposed dynamic grass and flowers system would transform vegetation from a static background element into a living part of the battlefield. Unlike the current system, which feels flat and disconnected, the new approach would allow plants to react naturally to fire, explosions, and vehicle movement. Flames would consume grass with their own animations, explosions would flatten or scorch vegetation, and tanks would visibly bend or crush plants as they pass. This level of interaction creates a battlefield that feels alive, where every action leaves a mark and contributes to the atmosphere of war. By replacing outdated visuals with modern, responsive animations, War Thunder would achieve a higher level of immersion and realism

Performance impact minimized with scalable graphics settings (can’t be disabled but can be lowered)
Conclusion
Updating grass and flowers with dynamic visuals and destruction animations would modernize War Thunder’s environments, making ground battles more immersive and visually engaging without affecting gameplay balance.
I’ve heard it does unspeakable things us gamers who are unfortunate enough to touch it. I heard a gamer who touched grass once got out of his chair and walked outside!!! he was never seen or heard from again. You see, that’s why I eated the grass - to save us from such an awful and petrifying incident ever happening again.
This system will replace old grass and flowers outdated png grass with new dynamic one that can be effected by gun fire and bombs like the ( tanks bushes).
If possible without obliterating performance further… I’m already down to a stable 100 - 120fps on medium settings. This time last year it was stable 144 on maximum
i don’t know anything about laptops and computers very limited knowledge but their will be setting to lower quality of grass (but can’t be disabled like right now !
Because this setting give game play advantage.
instead with new system :
players can shot the grass and flowers with main gun / mechanic guns / bombs like tanks bushes and i personally think grass should not be tall so players don’t get annoyed and ruin game play for other players !
