So, I’m assuming you can point to a nation that has ties on the same level to the SK105 as the UK does to the Skink.
That they funded the program, the program exists to meet both nations’ requirements, and they both actively used it in service?
Looking at its history, there isn’t one; the French were the only nation related to the vehicle in game and they didn’t REJECTED IT WITHOUT TESTING.
Let’s look at the SKink, Canadian SPAA program, with UK involvement; meanwhile, meanwhlie the US rejected the idea of getting involved, making their connection to it 0.
You might as well be claiming the Leo 2s in the French tree fly the French flag; it’s the same argument.
So, with that precedent. USA shouldn’t ever have Skink, because they have zero connection with the Skink Turret project.
If you claim Skink is an American vehicle because of nothing, but it is based on Grizzly I
you can claim those Patton Marksman and M-51, Magachs as American vehicles, too.
These are me putting time and effort into researching the Skink. You might notice the hull goes unchanged, as the hull was never a permanent part of the Skink. The start and the end of the Skink were the turret. The hull was only the stopgap, as it needed to fit a criten turret ring size and the gizzly match that.
Only US mains who want to claim the world will claim otherwise. As it doesn’t have a US connection; otherwise, the US would have been part of the program, but it wasn’t. It rejected the offer to take part.
Ok, what connection to the German tree does it have?
Did they fund it, test it, or service it? Like the British did with the Skink, and the US didn’t?
Or do you believe the vehicle was somehow vehicle-involved from start to finish the UK involvement is someone more related to the US because they used a US gear? A logic no different from claiming the world.
By political stuff, the Germany claim to the SK105 is still miles better than the Skink, as the US has zero political connection to it.
And the Grizzly based Skink uses US made components. French based SK105 was added to the French tree to make the French people happy, US based Grizzly Skink to make the US people happy. Everyone is happy, everyone wins.
A completely different case than a multinational project that the US was offered to take part in and turned down, with the other nation being a tree in the game.
Basically, the only reason it is being put in the only tree it has connections to is a bad thing; is wanting to keep the nation together in one tree. Sadly, it was added before they upped the focus on operator nations. As no other nation has a connection to it outside of some political argument, and that argument still doesn’t tie the other vehicle to the US.
Skink
Turret: Canadian
Gun: Joint British-and-Polish, Polsten
Hull: Canadian (License built sherman, but it was designed as a general-purpose SPAA turret for every Sherman hull.)
It was more a turret project like the Marksman Turret.
SK-105
Turret: Austrian, based on French Tech from AMX-13
Gun: French CN 105-57 (I heard there was a prototype upgrade plan to use the L7)
Hull: Austrian. Heavily modified Saurer APC
It was an Austrian light tank based on French and Austrian technology.
Technically speaking, well, it was Sherman first just because the UK had a backlog of old Shermans it wanted to reuse; it fits on anything that shares the same turret ring size of the Sherman it fits.
