Duplicate Vehicles: Why We Add Them

MG81Z(what A-5 uses) has much higher RoF than MG15. other than that theyre identical

Ammunition loadout does differ too, though it just makes the Aussie SEPv3 a slight downgrade from the American one.

You should stop using that analogy. It makes all of us cringe.
There might be a more appropriate analogy than that.

Comparing the AMX-30 and the Leopard 1 might be better.

I feel mixed about ‘Duplicate vehicles’ since
-it doesn’t give unique gameplay by vehicle itself, which makes me bored.
-while it does reflect real-life usage of vehicles in history, I might be happy if we get F-86E(M) Sabre F.4

But they literally are reskins with some junk slapped ontop of them. It’s like that one abrams with a plastic chair on it. Just because a modeller slapped some additions on the tank does not make it unique when the base is the exact same (painted differently) and the playstyle is also exactly the same.

It is basically the same as those premium vehicle packs which have camo nets and some other misc stuff added onto base vehicles. Except that the maidens tanks are ugly

“Leclerc & M1A1, AMX-30 & Leopard 1 have identical playstyles & thus are copy-paste!”

Use dictionaries.
Don’t make up fictional personal meanings to words to dismiss the hours of work researchers & modelers do.

You’ve never complained about Typhoons being copy-paste on the forum… but you’ll complain about unique vehicles. Okay buddy.

BTW copy-paste is not a negative, it has allowed Gaijin to increase the average vehicles from 42 to over 50 per update… by just added 1 - 8 copy-paste vehicles per update.

This is such an intentional misrepresentation of the copy-paste debate that it’s absurd.

The actual copy-paste complaints center around vehicles from other tech trees that are added without any meaningful changes gameplay wise and don’t fill gaps that can’t be addressed domestically, like the M44 for Germany and (in it’s current implementation) the Belgian Leopard 1a5BE.

Neither vehicle is a domestic design, nether plays any differently from their respective designs in other trees, and neither provides a new capability that Germany and France, respectively, couldn’t address on their own.

To an extent yes, it does allow for more content and gap filling BUT the big issue is that it’s not spread equally across the game, so some trees are getting overly diluted by the imbalance of copy paste additions. Additionally, many of the additions don’t even have line ups, so they’re just filler that increases the grind (Leopard 2a4nl for example).

IMO the best solution we can hope for is for the devs to intentionally focus on modeling families of vehicles with shared hulls (Cadillac Commandos, AML, ERC, VN, Patria AMV, VEC, etc) so that they have a back bench of easier to model vehicles they can use to off set the copy-paste. I’d prefer for the copy-paste to be significantly toned down, but that’s unlikely.

@Bergebis Thank you for the post repeating my takes.

Exactly what I’m saying, which is why I point out the absurdity.
Posts arguing that playstyle = copy-paste just harm the people actually complaining about the copy-paste they disapprove of. No one cares that Leclerc & M1A1 play identically.

Leopard 1A5BE is a unique Leopard BTW, it’s as unique as M4 Jumbo is to M4A1.

Edit: Posts that complain about unique vehicles being copy-paste by accounts that have never complained about Typhoons are just going to be dismissed.
I just want people to apply consistent standards & retain ideological consistency so I don’t have to dismiss on the basis of hypocrisy and/or double standards.

His entire argument is that if a 3D modeler so much as touches it, then it’s a unique vehicle. But somehow, vehicles that only have unique camo’s ARE copy-paste to him. I guess if the arts department whips up a new camo design based on historical photos their work doesn’t matter, but the guy adding a teddy bear onto a Maiden tank does.

I have no doubt he understands exactly what we mean when we say copy-paste. He’s just got his own weird sense of logic.

Blatantly false as I never said that. Stop putting words in my mouth.

Show me the “hours of research” that went into making gooner reskins of top tier tanks please.

It would not be if gaijin used it sparingly and deliberately. B ut we all know they don’t

CVompletely missed the mark with that comparison. It play exactly the same as other 9.3 leopards while the m4a1 and m4a3e2 play completely differently being about 2 whole BR apart and being classed as different vehicle types.

What a stupid qualifier. Do I even need to go into detail as to why it’s stupid?

Stop putting words in your own mouth.
No one said you said anything.

If someone has double standards & doesn’t include Typhoons in their complains, then their argument is null & void.
There are 4 Typhoons that use copy-paste models of 1 Typhoon.
There are zero Leopard 2A5/6/7 vehicles that use the same model as another.
There is 1 rank 9 Abrams that uses the same model as another.

Also no, the Shermans don’t play close to notably differently. Playing differently doesn’t make vehicles unique, & playing the same doesn’t make them copy-paste.

You replied heavily implying it.

Because the topic was not about typhoons at the time is that so hard to get? Also the typhoons are in the 3 tech trees that have been partbers in the program for developing it.

Do you take the same issue with the clovis, df105 and EMBT being in 2 tech trees for the same stupid reason?

The ones you put forth do in fact play quite differently so stop trying to weasel out of this. One is at 3.7 and one is at 5.7. that alone makes a ton of difference since they don’t even face the same opponents. Not to mention the 3.7 one is quite a good al rounder with a really strong gun for the BR while the 5.7 one has an anemic gun for the BR while having a really strong turret and quite strong frontal armour. They are not even close.

You are making up stuff again. The shermans are both different in appearance and playstyle. While the gooner tanks are literally the same base model (you can put a gooner camo on the regular one and pretty much have the senrai tank) and play the same.

Now if you don’t come up with any real arguments and stop twisting my words consider yourself ignored from now because you have started making circular arguments.

Zero of my posts make claims against you.

Again, my only argument is that people use dictionary definitions like the rest of us.

That’s it, that people use common meanings for words that the thousands of us agree on already.

What’s this then? You are literally making up arguments of other people using words wrong.

There is much literal copy paste as well as functionally 99% copy paste (senrai maidens, camo nets). Nobody claims the leopard BE and abrams are copy paste because they have the same playstyle as a completely different tabk. They are copy paste because they are identical in looks (99%) and playstyle to the tank which they are copied from. So the belgian leopard is not copy paste because it fills a gap that a frwnch tank that plays the same could, but because it does so while playing exactly the same as 9.3 leopards in other tech trees.

It’s called a hypothetical argument using rules illustrated.
Zero people were mentioned for that sentence, which is why it’s in quotation.

My takes respecting artists’ time & effort are correct.

Another fictional personalized definition that means nothing.

You still haven’t complained about any copy-paste vehicle, including the Typhoons.
For someone that allegedly hates copy-paste, all I’ve seen in your posts is evade discussing copy-paste vehicles & attack unique vehicles.

@vizender
If you’re thinking inappropriate things when you see characters, that says only things about you.

Idgaf about the typhoons mate, why the hell are you so obsessed with them. I have already mentioned the belgian leopard and there are kany vehickes like the stupid M44, M55 that need no mentions. Like literally the entire benelux and greece subtree are copy paste with the exception of like 3 low tier dutch planes. There . You happy I mentioned some copy paste?

You are one of the few people on this forum that would consider the gooner tanks unique. Guess we cannot all have a reasonable mindset after allm

To be fair, there are a few more unique ish variants, if only from a loadout and BR perspective, in the Greek air tree like the Mirage F1 that doesn’t have Magics. So unlike the leopard 1a5be, the devs actually took steps to differentiate the vehicle via ordinance and BR

If the Leopard 1a5BE actually got its MECAR ammo and the trialed MEXAS turret it would be 10.0 or so
