Duplicate Vehicles: Why We Add Them

Yet they are identical and both premiums.

Ah but you thought I was talking about the ussr same thing works for Sweden they add the kv1E into Sweden they loose a cash cow thus it won’t be added.
Anyway we are going in circles so I’m not continuing

No they don’t?!? People buy the Panzer III N despite it being free in the Italian TT?!? People would buy the KV-1B so they play it with their German line up!!! The same vehicle will still sell even when the same vehicle is in a different TT!!! That is why they take vehicles from one TT and copy the into another TT as premium!

Yes because you called it the “KV-1E” which is the one in the USSR TT when the Finnish one in the German TT is the KV-1B!!! They have different names for a reason!

Good! I’m done trying to explain a simple concept to you!!

Because of literally nothing they are identical tanks.

Genuinely how often do people play the 3N… And the Italian one is actually different (it’s worse)

So why do you think Sweden is suddenly special in this case where they won’t get it as a premium

It’s a pretty simple concept. The kv1E is a cash cow. Add it in Sweden they loose the cash cow why buy it in Russia when Sweden has it for free and it’s the exact same tank

Worse in what way? The sideskirts do pretty much nothing.

They serve in different military’s.

3N is easy and wow the German one gets side skirts and Ostketten! So revolutionary!

Because it’s already a premium and Sweden is where Finland is and it’s a Finnish tank?

Line ups, that’s why. People want to make different line ups. And yet again it’s the B we’re talking about, not the E. The E also gets D-350A (Smoke Shell) while the B doesn’t. They have slight differences. And answer me this, if the KV-1E and KV-1B are the same, then why do people buy one over the other?!? Hmmmm, maybe because they want it in their TT so they can make different line ups?!?

Side skirts and the roof mg

Because that clearly means the tanks aren’t identical lmao

So why would it change? Genuinely why would it change its currently a event premium in Germany and a premium in ussr why would it stop being a premium

What are identical tanks

Still a difference between the 2.

Because it’s in a different TT? Germans get the KV-1B with premium benefits in their TT, Soviets get the KV-1E in their TT with premium benefits, and the Swedes get the KV-1B in the finish sub tree without premium benefits. People buy copy and paste premium vehicles so they can make different line ups with them and for other benefits. They already have the C&P KV-1E in the German TT so they put the free one in the Finnish TT. The German and Soviet one will still make them money because people want to make German and Soviet line ups with these vehicles as well as them also being premiums. Why do people by the German Sherman when it’s for free in the U.S. TT?!? How bout the T-34 (1st Guards Tank brigade) and Su-76M (5th Gv.Kav.Corps)? The T-34 (1941) and Su-76M are both in the Soviet TT and still also sell as Soviet premiums! How bout the M4A2 (76) in the Soviet TT?!? Exactly the same at the M4A2 (76) in the U.S. TT, yet people still buy that! And there’s a ton more examples I could use!!!

Depends how you look at it. In theory there’s precedent to fill each rank with 5 (lines) * 3 (per line) * 4 (per folder) vehicles, so that’s 60 vehicles, which is a lot and probably what Alvis means here.

But the space issue isn’t really about theoretical space, but practical. While my living room might be 50m³ of space, that doesn’t mean I can fit 50m³ worth of furniture. I still need to account for practical placement so they can be used properly.

In War Thunder terms that means separating the lines by vehicle types, so your light tanks from your SPAA, your fighters from your bombers and so on. It also means keeping folders reasonable, there shouldn’t be four entirely different fighters for example sharing a folder. Even the arguably rare folders of two vastly different vehicles we sometimes have seem too much for me personally, but for the sake of it I’ll go with two different vehicle families per folder. I’ll also ignore national lines because even though I’d prefer them if the space was there, it isn’t and Gaijin already broke them up once in the British tree when they got to that point.

With this the 60 vehicles per rank quickly turn into something more like 6 vehicle families per line, that all are restricted by that lines vehicle type organization. So in practice it’s a lot less and especially when more nations are involved and want their vehicles represented this becomes a big issue down the line.

oh no i didnt misunderstand anything i never thought you wanted this instead of the hummel just thought adding the gun to a existing chassis would be easier and faster than adding a different hull to a uuhh turret… for the lack of a better word or at least i thought the later version of the brummbär used a different tank as a base thats why i said correct me if im wrong i usually go by memory and dont check on things all the time, thanks for the documents.
and in all honesty i wouldnt be pissed about copy paste if they had shared research i.e. you buy the m44 in, for example germany and spade it out in germany, it is now spaded out for every nation all you need to do is buy the previous vehicle and pay the crew training cost to equip the m44 in the next nation this would make the whole experience of playing several nations as gaijin clearly intends for its player base judging by battlepasses, challenges and events a lot more viable and less time consuming + you could just skip the vehicle in the next tech tree if you dont like it this way you could skip most of china to tier 7 to get somewhat unique vehicles instead of replaying all of america and russia for 6 tiers before you get something that is actually unique to china.

Yep. Probably the most busted reserve and will likely never be replaced. Great job Gaijin. claps

The British Stuarts don’t even need to be completely copy+pasted. There are ways to make them a bit more distinct.
The British preformed numerous modifications:

  • 2.5 inch smoke dischargers
  • External stowage and fuel tanks
  • Bracket for the holding the cupola hatch when open
  • Sand skirts (already present in-game)

Earlier on, some Stuarts had their crew configuration alterted. The turret traverse mechanism was moved to the gunner’s side, the radio was moved to an external box behind the turret, and the bow gunner joined the turret crew in a sling under the cupola, raising the turret crew to 3 men. This different crew layout could be an interesting gameplay distinction between the base model US and British Stuarts.

I’m of course still in the agreement that the several domestic British vehicles are long overdue, but my point with this is that the British Stuarts are actually another case of Gajin not really going the extra mile.
Like many “copy+paste” vehicles, they are only such because that’s what Gajin chose to settle for.

I am “wide” player, meaning I tend to play multiple nations rather than trying to push one to high ranks. I have close to 3k hours now and my highest spaded vehicle/lineup is 7.3 BR. Currently I play a lot of 3rd rank as I try to get more into flying, so I use event/warbond planes around 4.0 BR in Ground RB. This means I got to play a lot of M44/M55 SPGs after I finally bought them during SL sales.

Personally, I always feel incentivized by the game to participate in events, battlepass tasks/challenges, history pages and in spading vehicles, unlocking their camos and whatnot. So I kinda feel like I am playing the game as developer intended and currently I feel incentivized to play those M44/M55 SPGs.

I already spaded a few of them, they are fun to play and at 4.0 BR they don’t get that long to spade individually. But given how many of them are there (6x M44 and 5x M55, so 11 in total), they feel like a total slog to spade and obviously it gets boring to play the same vehicle over and over again. It feels very similar to spading higher BR vehicle which takes significantly longer, but instead somebody presses reset button from time to time and I have to spade it from start again, so instead of feeling like the vehicle is getting better with upgrades it feels like I am playing it stock all the time. One of the benefits of playing multiple nations is the variety and this totally kills it too.

I don’t mind having a few copy paste vehicles like M109G, M163 or ZSU-57-2 in a few tech trees, but I feel like having more than 2-3 vehicles is pointless. If there would be more, then only more modified variants would make sense, like having different ammo, machine gun, smokes or whatever, just to make it feel a little bit different gameplay wise.

I just wanted to give a small feedback from somebody with specific approach and playstyle in regards to this game.

You see how you didn’t say anything about the M-24? No one says anything because it’s the best light tank in the game and everybody wants it in their TT but when it’s a boring SPG like the M44/55 everybody hates them (not you, people in general)

There’s also the aspect of the availability of domestic alternatives (give or take 0.3 BR)

Germany and France have alternatives to the M44 (Hummel and Lorraine 155 mile 51)

But when it comes to BR 4.0 light tanks, countries like Japan, Italy, and Sweden have fewer options

The Lorraine it’s pay walled yes they have few options for light tanks as they have few options about SPGs

The Lorraine 155 MLE 50 is paywalled, but the mle 51 hasn’t been added to the game, it’s a second prototype
