Duplicate Vehicles: Why We Add Them

Fair - it depends what part of the world you happened to be in. Corsair or Hellcat probably have a claim to being the best US fighter in the Pacific, the Aircobras on the Eastern Front, P-51s on the Western Front, etc.

Likewise with British machines. Spitfire on Western Front has a good claim as one of the best UK Fighters. On the Eastern Front - most records I’ve read indicated the Soviets regarded the Hurricane more highly than the Spit Vs they got.

Russian theatre was better for the Aircobras due to average combat altitude, its the reason why the were seen inadequate in the European theatres due to constant high altitude engagements.

Hurricane was a more rugged design at the end of the day and less maintainence intensive than the Spitfire. As we see in game, the Russians managed to modify their Hurricanes with RU HMG, Cannons, Rockets (and bombs in some cases) something they couldn’t do with the Spitfire. Lack of parts was a huge factor aswell, later Mk.V and Mk.IX batches were sent with inadequate parts supply (Due to Churchill’s growing distrust of the USSR and for good reason) meaning whatever was left of Russia’s Spitfire fleet were relagated to ace pilots flying defence of areas such as Moscow.

Did you forget they have one in the game already?

I would be all for the British getting the variants they actually had, If they also equally copy-paste all of the British planes that the US also acquired.
Right now the US has 1 copy-paste Spitfire and a couple licensed produced versions of the Canberra and Harrier, Meanwhile the Brits have over 16 planes of US origin in their tree.

And once again, Canada isn’t a dedicated tree of anyone, But sure keep bringing that argument up.

Development for it was independent of the order.
The army was desperate for something new and where getting some regardless.

For the Mustang, yes we the Mustang Mk.IA in game, a British service model. The US got this for testing and is such copy and paste in the US tree and needs to be removed by your logic. Yes Britain had lend lease (like nearly every tree in game) SOME aircraft are direct copies, but that is due to Gaijin not giving them British ordinance. This stance is slowly shifting.

And finally for Canada you love harping so much on, it isn’t a dedicated tree yes but the vast majority of its content is in Britain. They are also also placed within trees that they most relate to, for Canada’s WW2 content (I.e Skink and Ram) this is once again Britain. The US ONLY got the Skink due to a “fair trade” policy, this was done to appease US mains and to stop them bitching about not having it and they ended up getting TWO. The ONLY reason the US has the Ram II is that the British TT didn’t exist when it was added, they even went the extra step to give it a fake name. At this point it should be removed, like the Grant, because the British tree now exists. Stuart VI is also one that should come to the British tree, since it was a British vehicle given to the Canadians.

And back to the Lee, yes the US Army got some. But they never left the states, all M3’s whether they were Lee or Grant, saw exclusive service with foreign operators such as the USSR and Great Britain (With the UK being the first combat operators of the type).

You’re the only one who seems desperate for Canadian players to be stuck in the US tree if they wish to use Canadian Service vehicles. If we were to ask all Canadian players which tree they would rather be in - they’d probably pick UK. Followed by China. Or France. Or Japan. Anything really that would avoid being lumped in with Murican Mains.

US would likely be at the bottom of the list of preferences after the Democratic Republic of the Congo or uninstalling WT and playing World of Tanks instead.

Britain or a dedicated Canada tree are the 2 alternatives they want, I have yet to see a single Canadian who wants to be in the US tree.

They could remove India for the British tree (nothing is lost) and replace it with Canada.

Well it’s one of those choices you got when you were a child.

‘Do you want to play with the normal kids or the window-licking ones who eat crayons?’

=)

Ideally a Commonwealth / Dominions of Empire tree would be the classic solution with overlaps as needed from the UK. However a dedicated CAN/AUS/NZ tree would be brilliant and well received. Just don’t see Gaijin doing that because it isn’t Russian…

Am dutch lmao

It’s the rest of the world - a mysterious and terrifying prospect for the average US Main in War Thunder. Anywhere not in Kentucky is basically Narnia.

There was rumours of an apparent Commonwealth tree just before the Centurion Mk.5/1 RAAC was added, however as we can see that idea was scrapped with the British tree slowly becoming that said tree.

The 1st Armored Division used them, While technically under British command.
But its still an American division.
If someone asked you to look after a toddler for an hour, Would the kid still be yours when the parent comes back?

Gaijin said it themselves it was to fill the AA gap because the US doesn’t have anything that can fit where it is, Every AA they made would either be a full BR higher or lower at minimum.
Go ask the devs if you don’t like it.

Only the toxic nationalists care that much to prefer totally unrelated nations like China and Japan.

South Koreans have repeatedly expressed their preference for being a US sub tree if being an independant tree wasn’t an option, That still didn’t stop Chinese and Japanese mains from claiming both Korea’s should be theirs because they are “both Asian”.

Yes Gaijin said the US "Don’t have any AA that can be added to fill the gap, but they do Gaijin just use that statement to add copy and paste vehicles instead of domestic content. The US could have easily got the T85E1 MGMC or T52 MGMC as a Skink alternative, they just chose the Skink as the lazy option which is very common for easy additions in this game. They recently admitted they added the M44 and M55 to Germany because “The Hummel wasn’t ready yet”.

Pictured are the T85E1 MGMC (Top) and T52 MGMC (Bottom)

And for a non-WW2 option, they could get the M114A2 APC equipped with the M139 20mm gun (Found on the XM800T) and would be the US alternative to the SUB I-II or AMX-10P

So saying the US “Don’t have any options” is once again false and can easily be disproven.

At least they acquired it, Unlike several of the vehicles i have already listed before never having been so much as looked at by other countries.

And once again, Because its apparently too hard for you to read.
Copy-pastes and imports is disproportionately represented in other trees and MASSIVELY underrepresented in the US tree.

My logic has been consistently this:
If every nation is entitled to imports no matter how or if they where used or in what numbers, Then the US should be treated the same, Which it currently is not.
If one nation has to lose the uniqueness of having something, Then they all do, No exceptions.
If its such a problem to you and others that the US has something from another country, Then its a problem for the other trees too.

Literally you are the one upset at copy and paste and dual standards by nations (Gaijin is the reason for this, not nation mains they don’t make the rules).

Had only 60 rounds of ammo and is not fully enclosed, The top has big holes in it.
It would be far worse than the Skink, Being only marginally better than the Ostwind.

Also more in line with the Wirbelwind in terms of protection, Firepower would heavily depend on the shells it gets, And nearly everyone on the suggestion post for it seems to agree it would be 3.7 or 4.0.

Again, Not the BR area of the Skink.

Considering the AMX-10P is 6.3, This would be too, Again not in the same BR that the devs said they where trying to fill.

So which is it?
Do mains sway the devs choices and get things added/denied?
Or is it purely the devs decision?

cant even add the C&P i wanted

I’m not really good with brs but could something like the XM-701, V-100(20mm) and XM808 work?

SUB I-II is also 5.3, which this more closely falls in line with.
