i belive this is correct.
i would be tempted to try find this in the data mines but the amount of digging would take some time

I don’t really see the buff here …
It will still face Scharn and other 95% of the time.
It not a buff, it’s a spit on the face of French naval players that thought they would finally have a 7.0 top tier BB.
Fun fact, it is still the only naval TT without a 7.0.
Also to the French guys here, do you know about “Cap-hornier” dude that made awnsome YT videos about Leyte Golf and also Mers El Kebir incident ? (He also wrote a book)
www.youtube.com/@Cap-hornier
He is not a proper historian but he knows a shit loads about the french naval equipment
I know he plays WoWs but I don’t know if he knows about WT naval.
He may know If there is some publicly unknow documents about shell penetretion of the Dunkerque 330mm.
He could be accessible, but I’m not sure if If it’s worth bothering him if there’s a 99% chance that the devs will not give a F for the umpteenth time.
It was terrible only if all the gun was shoot at the same time
gszabi cannot post here, he’s getting the following error: "“An error occurred: In order to post more messages you need to be active game player. Your last activity is 30/10/2024 00:00:00” 🤨 If anyone of the moderators would be so kind to check why gszabi is getting the issue and fix it - it’d be amazing.
That said, @gszabi99 gave me this answer for you, regarding where in the in-game file the spread of the guns is given.
maxDeltaAngle
, the lower the better
Irl the guns were not accurate but so far Gaijin has implemented dispersion by calibre and not historical factors.
I wouldn’t put it past them for France to be the first nation with historical dispersion implemented as it would be a nerf across all their post-WW1 ships.
Got a response regarding the use of the upper ammo racks:

Up to developers’ discretion. Not a bug.
Fair. But disappointing none the less, as there doesn’t seem to any other mean of communicating with the devs to reconsider before releasing the patch.
Whilst the SAP is its own issue, i still do not see Dunkerque or Strasbourg being 7.0 in which case France does not actually have a 7.0 worthy ship. Richelieu is too good, Strasbourg is too bad.
The armour was always going to be an issue i had just hoped the calculator coupled with angling would mitigate that, it appears ingame that is not the case.
But these ships were not intended to resist battleship calibre guns.
Getting the ship to use the upper ammo racks first, so you could lower the amount of ammo like people commonly do it in the ground battles, would give a notable boost to the survivability of Dunkerque, making her much more competitive.
It could at least been a glass cannon and good players may have put it to good use.
Now it’s strait up garbage.
It’s not about the fact of “If the real ship was inteded to tank battleship shells or not”, there are 7.0 with “Not inteded to receive battleship shells” hulls and they are doing fine regarding survivability and other aspects mitigate the survivability issue.
You need to use the lower ammo racks, not the upper ones. The lower the ammo is located, the greater the survivability
Definitely would be much better with buffed survivability. I want her to be as good as possible.
I just don’t think she would fill that gap.
can i ask is there a tutorial for starting to learn to data mine
You can use Gszabi’s github of the data files online to check.
I did some light digging and found that Soviet 305mm guns are notably more accurate then most others. Their dispersion value is set to 0.2 when the rest are 0.25 or larger (larger caliber gets higher dispersion, most of the time). This does not apply to the 365mm guns that I assume are Soviet, named 356mm Obr 1911 or something along those lines. Those get standard 356mm dispersion.
The way I see it, if Kongo and Haruna can remain at 7.0, then Dunkerque could quite happily sit at 7.0 if the SAP wasn’t so awful.
Oh well, either way, this is the only French-built ship we’re getting until next November. Hopefully they at least improve the SAP a little bit.
yo i have had a look and i cant find this in the files but i may be looking in the wrong place
There is the rapport of the test of Dunkerque:
DUNKERQUE, bâtiment de ligne. 1936 : Rapport d'essais définitif, fasc. II, fasc. III (tomes 1, 2) | Service historique de la Défense(tome 1 and 2)
DUNKERQUE, bâtiment de ligne. 1936 : Rapport d'essais définitif, fasc. II, fasc. III, fasc. III (tomes 3, 4, 5). | Service historique de la Défense(tome 3,4 and 5)
DUNKERQUE, bâtiment de ligne. 1936 : Rapport d'essais définitif, fasc. II, fasc. III, fasc. III. (tomes 6, 7). | Service historique de la Défense(tome 6 and 7)
There is a good chance that the test of the main gun is in one of the documents.
But you need to read the document in person.
I suppose that’s Vincenne ? Not any other archives in Brest or anywhere else ?
Yes they are in Vincenne.
