It wasn’t okay even then, the Ka-50 just drove the last nail into the coffin, as it already had turned into AH-1Z seal clubbing zone where starter helis had near zero chance getting anywhere near the battle, which drove away most of the players that hadn’t joined the closed beta.
I used to suggest that we can have a PVP model without any kind of missiles, just using MG/guns to against each other, that would be very fair
Hence this topic, because their solution was to shift the millions of RP from helicopters to ground forces and called it a day, now whenever you bring up the issue they point to that.
I remember back during the dev server for Sons of Attila, Hungarian helis were separate from the Italian ones, but before release it was changed to what it is now lol, for “reasons”
I was furious when they did that, they knew exactly what they were doing and they just rubbed it in our faces.
The design of the heli trees is insanely bad, especially with copy paste helicopters being added just to extend the grind whilst adding zero value.
It’s annoying how they finally folder more ground vehicles and add stock APFSDS and such but then not implement any of these things for helicopters or even naval, where you also don’t get the lower parts and FPE cost and such either.
I hate grinding and all other “Gaijin greed” related stuff, but I think heli grinding is not that bad.
Yesterday I took a day off and dedicated it to Sim Ground Battle and played only Z11-WA and Z-9W (which are kinda tough to play in that BR bracket) and gained around 200k research points with only a premium account and no boosters in 10/11 hours.
Imagine If I had the Z19 premium, it would be even easier because it’s a way better helicopter than the one I used, and it’s a premium. I guess 4/5 hours of Sim would be enough to grind the 200k points.
I think this is okay because the more difficult it is, the higher the reward is.
If you are talking about PVE, I think that gamemode should be deleted forever.
It’s ugly, boring, time-wasting, and useless because you will learn little or nothing about helicopter gameplay.
You should just pretend it doesn’t exist and play RB/SIM with ATGMs.
So according to your experience that is 20k per hour using a premium account, and after all that time you barely got halfway through the research of the next helicopter?
Yeah, I don’t see it as a problem. It doesn’t feel heavy like in PVE; there are only a few helicopters after all.
Remember that spading gets you extra research points, so I got 50k from spading the one before.
A couple of months ago, when they added the Wessex in the Alpha Strike Update, in order to skip it, I’ve grinded the entire British Helicopter Techtree in 9 days with only premium account, without premium vehicles.
I didn’t even play Sim because it was infested by the QN506, making it impossible to use the Scout and the Wasp. Just reserve tank, capping, and spawn helicopter.
It was stressful; I’ve failed a lot of time on the ground and playing tanks it’s not my jam, but still, a couple of weeks or even a month, depending on how much you play, to unlock an entire tech tree, I guess it’s okay, considering how much you need for tanks or jets.
20 hours to unlock copy paste helicopters that shouldn’t even be in the tree, 40 hours without premium for mid BR helicopters, over 40 hours if you have a worse helicopter is a problem to me, especially when that requires you to dedicate that to a specific gamemode like Sim in order to do so.
In most European countries, if you take into account the minimum salary after taxes it would be (in some cases) 7-8 times faster to just work and simply GE whatever helicopter you need to get (without mods)
Yeah, if you don’t actually care about the value of money.
I didnt suggest you should spend money in this manner (or honestly at all in this game) . It was a simple example of how absurdly long it takes to grind in this game.
Well, a lot of people seem to justify spending money on the game because they compare the time it takes to earn it whilst working compared to getting it whilst playing, but never compare the money they made to the value they’re getting out of it.
I just finished the entire US heli tree with all but 1 spaded and I agree. I used a heavy mix of Ground assault mode (for daily booster used in heli PVE), heli PVE and GRB. I bought the AH64A (GR) and that really helped with higher tiers a lot but that’s not an option for many so I still agree. Think it took a good 5 months to do them all.
