For a while now maps have seen slices taken from their usable area in arcade battles. Today I spawn in an Eastern Europe map and half the map is out of bounds?
For some reason Gaijin want to encourage us to just go head on, no flanking, no thinking, no strategy. Unfortunately this will just lead to everyone using the same best fit vehicles, games being dull and retention of players (IMO) going down because there is much less variety and possibilities in play (who in their right mind is going to use a light tank if all you get to do is trade shots with heavy front armoured vehicles on a thin long map???).
Personally I don’t want to just stand toe to toe in the most heavily armoured vehicle available, but that seems like its exactly what the developers are trying to do. What an incredible waste of all that work on vehicles and maps. I guess I need to start looking for a more interesting alternative.
They changed Eastern europe. Below 4.3, it is the old variant, but without bridges. Above 4.0, the map now looks like this.
There is still the whole other side of the map to flank with.
In AB there are serious difficulties with doing so- going around the river was honestly my go-to strategy with stuff like the 234/4 because it actually gave you stealth. I really wish they hadn’t done this tbh.
The two spawn points on the B side of the river are only 2100 feet (668 meters) from each other and have a direct LOS! So, you’re starting in a direct-fire engagement area except for the temporary invulnerability. I got four kills in rapid succession–spawn camping without really leaving my spawn site.
That’s a broke-dick map, now!
And both versions are worse than the original.
The sub 4.0 one (where many tanks are capable of engaging over 1km) is just aids.
The one with the B cap side is also bad, because you can litearlly fire into their spawn after 20s. The spawns are too close and the cutting off bridges just makes play worse. There is no reason to do this but to make the game worse for anyone but a drooling beginner.
SBMM them in their own map hell like coastal/air and leave us vets the normal, functional and FUN maps that were originally there please. They don’t like talking about SBMM which is weird.
The devs don’t play AB at all, it’s extremely obvious. Especially Naval, even though it’s more popular than RB…
