Perhaps not very “alien”, but really the TOG 2 isn’t either, I would argue.

Id assume the suggestion itself being called “japanese VB.10”, that its engine layout - the most standout thing about it - isnt that unique among WT vehicles.

TOG II on the other hand is one of a kind.

As an example of this, I present the KV-7 (U-13). This vehicle is definitely the kind of wonky-looking prototype that people on the old forum would talk about and request for the game years and years ago. However, in the new forum, it was largely forgotten and not something I saw brought up very frequently, and I believe it surprised many people (myself included) when it appeared as the reward for DCT 2024. Its suggestion on the new forum, created in July of 2023, received no comments until after DCT 2024 had already started, and it was never even passed to the developers before then.

You however gotta admit that the KV-7 (U-13)s gun layout is alien enough so that it would be fit as DCT vehicle even if noone requested it.

I have seen the Ki-64 brought up in a few Rumor Round-Ups on a few occasions from a few different users. This may not seem significant, but it is significant when considering the fact that the primary topic of discussion in such threads is almost exclusively [insert modern/top tier vehicle here].

You didnt really make any questionable factual claims here. You explained your point well, youre polite, and theres no reason for anyone to “correct” you on anything, much less me. The thread is called “predictions” after all.

Now that Ive had some more time to think about it, Im starting to believe that DCT isnt really about vehicles having “unique characteristics” in the traditional sense. It seems to be more about vehicles that are almost entirely defined by one particular gimmick.

So far, DCT vehicles seem to follow roughly the same pattern: they are off-meta, weird or highly specialized vehicles that probably wouldnt see much use as regular tech tree additions, while at the same time not being particularly desirable as conventional event rewards either. their entire appeal is usually concentrated around that one gimmick. They might be interesting to look at, interesting to collect, or fun to mess around with for a few games, but once that novelty wears off, they dont necessarily offer enough general usefulness to become popular vehicles.

That actually makes them pretty well suited for DCT. The event gives Gaijin an excuse to add something that is memorable precisely because of how strange or impractical it is, without having to justify it as a useful tech tree addition or a highly desirable event reward.
