What Im proposing its to separate currently opposing nations that are in the same team in Ground Simulator Battles. For example: People Republic of China and Republic of China, both in the red team; East Germany and West Germany, both in the blue team; and the future Korean TT, which I suspect its going to have South Korea and North Korea both in the same team (blue probably)
Why?
First of all, the ground sim teams are composed of NATO and allies (blue team) against USSR/Russia/China and allies (red team), just like real life tensions. But then seeing east germany’s T-72 against soviet’s T-72 or ROC abrams against USA abrams completely breaks inmersion, considering nations that were/are allies in real life are fighting each other, and also makes teamkill more common. So my suggestion would keep the inmersion of simulating real word tensions and decrease the teamkills (there still going to exist because captured vehicles).
Examples:
West Germany was part of NATO (led mainly by USA) and East Germany of the Warsaw Pact (led mainly by USSR), but ingame you see them both fighting the USSR.
ROC its an ally of USA and Japan recently announced it will back up Taiwan, while PRC its in frecuent military tensions against USA, Japan and ROC (Taiwan). But ingame you see ROC being allied with PRC and fighting its real life allies Japan and USA.
In the future, without this feature, we may see North Korea fighting along side with South korea and Japan, against Russia and China. This wouldn’t make sense.
How do you plan to do this, and what will happen if I have opposite nation’s vehicles in my lineup??
Well this could be solved with a tab where you can select the team you want to play and then only the required vehicles for that team in your lineup will be played. Something like the SEAD event, when you could choose play USA or USSR.
Steps:
I want to play ROC M1A2T and AH-64E in the top br of ground sim.
I have my lineup with these 2 vehicles and some ZTZ tanks.
Open the Ground Sim, select the second option (for top tier)
Appears a tab of which nation to play
Select blue team, so the M1A2T and AH-64E will be available but not the ZTZ tanks, because those will be red team only.
I said something like this a while back. The infrastructure for this already exists via custom battles (team switching, banned vehicle types which easily turns into banned vehicles). Top tier sim is already entirely based on certain vehicles being thrown together regardless of BR (F-111A in top tier spot, 10.3 plane, while the F-5E is 11.3 and is in the bracket below).
Sim is entirely reliant on target identification, If I see an Abrams, and Apache, and a Mirage all while I play blue, then I expect them to be on my side. I’ve been killed by M60s that were on the opposite team, as well as super sabres.
Teamkilling is the main reason I can’t play ground sim.
Stupid teammates (I got killed in m3 lee cause I “didn’t look american enough”
copy paste in other trees that make me doubt every sherman I shoot.
They should make it historical sim battles for opposing nations and restrict vehicles from being on both sides. Then that way I only need too deal with stupid teammates.
I made some corrections .
The ground sim teams (x_1) are composed of Axis (Germany/Italy/Japan) against Allies (USSR/USA/UK and allies) , just like real life tensions. But then seeing Italy’s М18 against USA’s M18 or Japan M4 against USA M4 completely breaks immersion, considering nations that were allies in real life are fighting each other, and also makes teamkill more common.
American vehicles in Japan and Italy Technical Trees are not “captured”. They are post-war “provided”. So, it completely breaks immersion the same way, you described.
Your suggestion could be usefull not only for x_2 setup, but x_1 as well. Please, expand it.
Thing its, the M4 its from the Japanese Army, it would be Japan vs Japan. It would make sense if we were playing historical battles (so no ww2 tanks vs pre-war tanks in service), but it is not.
Thats gotta be a different suggestion to make (will work on it), but this one will keep only separating opposite nations.
You do not play the low tier sim. This is the clue. But there are many people who suffer from the same clone problem there.
As for me, it doesn’t sound like a different suggestion. The main idea is the mechanics of separating opposing clones.
