In this suggestion I will be suggesting rewards for completing certain milestones in a tech tree. Ranks in this game often feel like they are designed only to restrict us, placing barriers we must overcome before getting to vehicles we want. What if, however, ranks are something looked at as something to complete? This suggestion is about placing milestones in a tree that you work towards as an optional “side quest”
An impromptu idea of the UI for this suggestion
The IDEA
Currently in War Thunder, getting through a rank feels…unrewarding. To fix this problem, we could place rewards through the rank for progressing through them. They don’t need to be large rewards, but they could easily keep the grind more manageable. By adding these at certain points that increase with difficulty, we could keep adding better and better rewards. For example:
at halfway through getting all vehicles in the rank, you get a booster
after unlocking all vehicles in the rank, you get a 10% RP boost for researching the next rank
After spading all vehicles in the rank, you get a free premium vehicle, some SL, and a random talisman on one of the vehicles within the rank.
the IMPLIMENTATION
The idea for how to impliment such a thing would be simple. Upon opening a tree, next to the rank text, you would see a “Milestones” button. Clicking on this would open a UI similar to the one above, allowing for you to track your progress and claim the rewards.
The ultimate completion
But now, imagine that you have gotten or even spaded every single vehicle in the tree! What awaits you then? My idea is that at this point, you deserve an extraordinarily good reward. My idea for this would be that you get a event vehicle off the marketplace(even if you dont have it availible…wink wink console users) and more rewards…at the very least a decoration, decal, title, and some GE.
Regarding new vehicles.
I am positive that this question will be raised: “what happens if the tree gains new vehicles? Do I lose my reward?”
I think if the reward is a consumable, vehicle, currency, or other such thing, it should be kept. You’ve earned it after all. But, much like the Vehicle Research Bonuses, new vehicles will take away any economy boosts from this until you have re-earned the criteria for it.
Ok first of all lets be real, we all ofc would like to have a free premium vehicle after each rank but its unrealistic fro Gaijin perspective. Not only does the grind to he next rank very easy, but also will affect Gaijin sales of those vehicles meaning it will likely not added.
A better reward of each rank IMO would be a talisman to a random vehicle from the rank completed, but instead or RP boost, its SL boost. I think this would be a more realistic idea.
I could see it with event vehicle style additions that don’t have premium bonuses maybe. This could be a way to add vehicles that “don’t fit the techtree” without locking them behind a time limited event.
Also if they really want money from it, make it like squadron vehicles where you can skip this grind and buy them with GE directly.
Kinda already a thing tbh, or at least similar for unlocking extras via hitting rank milestones although most are to just Rank II, famous example is the OS2U after hitting Rank II of vessels.
Similar is the for getting to Rank II:
• french tanks/ motor boats of 1.0 BR
• iirc an IJA tank
• Town class 1940…
But I do like the idea for some oddity or premium after researching a certain rank, kinda had a similar idea in the past, may need to suggest it again six years on.
