History:
The Rampage was developed in 2012 by Israel Military Industries (IMI) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), being a project to turn the 306 mm ground-to-ground artillery rocket “EXTRA” into an air-to-ground guided standoff missile. Its previus name was MARS (Multi-purpose, Air-launched Rocket System) but later changed to Rampage. This new missile has the objective to strike enemy stationay targets, as anti-air systems and military facilities at long ranges, thanks to its precise INS/GNSS guidance.

It was officialy presented during a press realease in June 11, 2018; but there is no extended information about its development I could find.

The Rampage’s combat history its very shrort right now. It was first used in April 2019, when the Israeli Air Force (IAF) with F-16I Sufa jets striked rocket factories and depots in Masyaf, Syria.

In December 2024, the IAF striked houthi targets, as ports ( Al Hudaydah and Ras Isa on the western coast), the Sanaa International Airport and energy infrastructures (Hizaz power plant), in Yemen, in an operation between F-16I Sufa planes carrying Rampage missiles and F-15D Baz planes carrying Popeye missiles.
Finally, multiple sources claims that Rampage missiles were used during the strikes in Syria (jul 2025), Iran (jun 2025) and even the strike in Qatar (set 2025). But none of them were confirmed by the Israeli goverment, so it stay as a mere speculation.
The first export client of the Rampage was the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy in 2020 - 2021, in 2024 it was integrated in the Indian’s Su-30MKI, Mig-29, SEPCAT Jaguar and Mig-29K planes. Later in 2025 the Indian Air Force used the Rampage during Operation Sindoor, against terrorist camps backed by Pakistan and military bases in Pakistan’s territory.
