(DRAFT) Israel's Popeye II "Lite" missile - Lighter version for F-16 jets

image

History:

After the success of the Popeye I (exported mainly to the USA, then Australia, Turkey, South Korea and India), Israel developed in early 1990s the Popeye II (AGM-142E “Have Lite”) which was meant to be lighter, shorter and cheaper than its predecessor (but with the same range, speed and guidance). Also it made it compatible with single-engine fighters like the F-16 because of the reduced weight, it entered in Israeli service in 1995. It was tested by the USAF in their F-16 jets, but unfortunately for the Israelis, the USAF did not decide to buy it, but instead preferred to rely in their domestic armaments (like the JDAM, JASSM, GBU-15, etc).

Combat history:

The Popeye II Lite, there is no information about being used, as the IAF prefers to use the Popeye 1 in theirs F-15s and other munitions in their F-16s.
