I have been playing almost 12 years now. I started with 5 nations and 5 tiers, just planes.
I have had every vehicle that was “researchable” done 5 or 6 times back then(far less vehicles)
and that includes the earliest tanks a couple of times as well.
I did play what was “top tier” at the time pretty regularly.
Then they began adding more nations, and tanks to more nations, followed by helis & naval.
I can’t get the hang of helis well enough to enjoy playing them so I just avoid them . … lol.
I play planes, tanks & naval regularly, but still mainly planes.
This is the part of the game that I enjoy.
I fly in AB, mostly 4.3 - 5.3 BRs (you can find me flying 4.7 a majority of the time)
Tanks I play a little higher 4.7 - 6.7 (mainly at 5.7)
And naval I prefer Bluewater and play 6.0 and higher, I play both AB & RB for naval
I have 2,155 vehicles, far more than I can play really.
I am finishing the research on the newest RU jet they added to have that air tree
complete(again . . lol). And I am fairly close on Germany and some others.
Tanks I do not have any trees complete but do have high tier in Germany & RU
as well as some others.
For naval I lack 1 ship to finish US, Germany & RU in Bluewater and 2 for Japan.
Again, I enjoy the bigger ships and like to play 6.0 and up
I prefer the LOS(line of sight) game play over the BVR(beyond visual range) as it has
more of a “game” feel to me. I rely more on my skills than my equipment.
Don’t get me wrong, the modern stuff looks cool and goes fast
(faster is not better it’s just faster is all).
I enjoy the older vehicles more, not because they are older, but because I enjoy
that kind of game play more is all.
To each their own, I am not saying one is any better than the other, that’s personal choice.
It seems that many consider getting to and playing top tier is the object of the game.
Personally, I think the main thing is to have fun, and that means different things
to different people . . . and that’s ok.
The game has become HUGE . . . like BIGLY even . . . so many choices and things to play.
I always advise, “Find what you like to play & have fun at and . . . do that”
whatever that is… . .
