Usually the ratio is not that small, or is only that small when the material is very thin. Since it went through the hill and then the turret well, we know that what the jet went through was not thin. Therefore, the fact that the exit diameter is very nearly the same as the penetrator diameter (and the angle of the exit hole’s expansion is small), it would follow that there is some sort of spall reduction.

the spall i was referring to, was from whatever hit the Abrams. All the penetrations i’ve seen of Abrams have never been bigger than the initial penetrator, and some have even been smaller since the penetration lost energy trying to get past the armor.
who ever did it was not a regular to the area, they cleaned up the entire site covered their tracks and left, most likely was either a chinese team or a russian team testing a A.T weapon
They didnt even fixed the position of Hydraulic Pump,turret ring,Side turret armor protection and bulkheads. Do you seriously expect them to add Spall Liners bro?

It’s a good tank. If you exclude the Strv 122s/2A7s, which are just in a tier of their own in general, the M1A2 and SEP are legit top 5 of the remaining MBTs. You really don’t have the game sense, acquired by both skill and experience, to understand the gameplay of top tier and what makes a tank op, good or meh, no matter how many video’s you watch.
If you exclude the good tanks, the Abrams becomes good. Wow.

Yeah and every other tank, like a T-80BVM or a Type 10, will perform just as bad against a 2A7 and Strv 122 as an Abrams will.
Age old question is still: how can someone who’s highest tank is the OF-40 Mk.2A, and who can’t really go positive in any of their tanks, tell what is good and what is not good at top tier.
EDIT: apologies, your highest tank is the Centauro I 105. Point still stands though.
Same as above. These tanks also face, and shir on, BVMs/Type 10s/90Ms etc just as much.
No matter a Spall Liner or DU armor, people will just aim for the turret ring

It could maybe be stronger but it will always be a weakspot
It shouldn’t be a weakspot at all if it is properly modeled, every APFSDS >90 mm is too big to fit there, at best it would disable the turret ring and maybe slightly spall, while APFSDS <90 mm just wouldn’t have enough pen to even go through, even if they would physically fit.
