Yeah but not really. That’s a massively oversimplification of how military research and development works. The M26 was deployed literal years after the Tiger 1 ceased to be a relevant threat
True, it is an oversimplification of the design process. However, there were M26s deployed in the latter end of WWII, even one with the upgraded gun (T26E1-1), while the only Tiger deployed in significant numbers was the Tiger I. It was still very much a real threat, because the standard US tank was still the 75 sherman, with some 76 Sherman’s available that couldn’t pen the Tiger at the extreme ranges tigers often fought from. Tiger IIs were not numerous enough to become perceived as the prominent threat over the Tiger I.
Yes, and not on the Western front.
It wasn’t. Germany deployed a whopping 120 of them on the western front post D-Day and the Americans specifically encountered them three entire times. Want to know a fun fact? The first time the Americans encountered them, the M4 Sherman in question WON. The second time, the M26 Pershing LOST, and the third time they were encountered on train beds, so not exactly a fair fight.
There are reports of this caliber of gun beating heavy tanks with HE alone. Real tank fights are not like War Thunder.
The average engagement range on the western front was like 600 meters for a tank engagement with 50% of total engagements happening below this number.
Tiger 1s weren’t seen either. They were both scary story book tanks that hardly anybody ever actually saw.
IRL it was roughly equivalent to the Panther and Tiger. It should be 6.0 imo. It’s round can deal with tigers and Panthers frontally (with some aiming), but it is no match for Tiger 2’s and such which it faces. Maybe if the hvap/apcr were worth a Cr_p, but they’re not. Shermans should all drop a notch too as the 5.7-5.0 shermans are overtiered. The t25 is also now a slug and a chore to play…I like it, but it is not 6.3 worthy.
6.3 is fine
No they aren’t. That’s just USA player cope.
Yeah, you’re an authority on all things. Buzz off.
What makes them overtiered*
Shermans above 5.0 most often face uptiers. The 5.7 Sherman frequently faces Tiger 2’s, Tigers, Panthers, Ferdinands, JPanthers, JTigers. They CAN deal with Tiger and Panther with well Aimed shot, but if you miss you don’t usually get another chance. 149 pen shell isn’t adequate for an equal fight Vs 190+ for Panthers, 165 Tigers, 237+ for the Tiger 2’s and TD’s. This is ONLY the German tree. Russia and the rest pose other problems for them. If they hit you, you are gone! Shermans HAVE to aim. Thats NOT cope! Cope and gaslighting is what YOU are doing.
This also applies to the m26, and t25…both are slow, slow performance and weak armor vs their opposition. t25 lost it’s stabilizer and it’s engine speed, has no armor and the m82 has MAX 185 pen! ALL these vehicles underperform vs their competition.
You can’t talk logic with him. He just hates U.S. vehicles.
This doesn’t matter first of all, because then it would also apply to every other tank at their battle rating, and at that point you’re complaining about matchmaking not the tank.
But also, its not like the shermans are incapable of performing in these uptiers
It easily deals with all of this except for the Tiger 2, which it just has to flank or ambush, which is very, very normal for a full uptier into a heavy tank that put most of its skill points into armor.
The Tiger 1 and Panther can be FRONTALLY dealt with at any range, and the tank destroyers are easily flanked as they are extremely slow and vulnerable besides their frontal armor. The Tiger 2 is the only one that has a turret, has strong enough armor, and is mobile enough to not be easy to defeat.
It doesn’t take that much aim.
Why? Are you out of position? You should either be near cover or in a position where you can retreat either way
That’s ridiculous. 149 pen FRONTALLY PENS AT LONG RANGE on the Tiger 1 and Panther. The Tiger 2 is the only tank you can’t frontally pen and you easily pen it as soon as you see any side armor, especially on the turret. Not to mention you reload way faster than all of these tanks AND you get a gun stabilizer.
Shermans also get a long, long, long list of advantages to support them in getting that first shot off that cripples the german tank. That’s what makes your complaints cope.
Like, if you DID drop the battle rating of these tanks, the 76mm shermans, what do you think their equals are? What would their peers be?
Yeah, I was looking at his stats…ok player, but he only has meh stats in m4’s. His tiger stats are much better so it’s obvious he likes the easy meals…typical.
Do you REALLY want to go that route?
Using 7 year old stats is crazy
Anything to promote your argument right? Disregarding the fact you don’t have any idea when, how, or any other factor in how I obtained those stats?
You didn’t acknowledge anything I said. You lost the argument. GG.
Oh, by the way

Take a guess who is who here
The m4a3 at 5.7 has 84mm effective armor on the FRONT! Anything can deal with it.
Correct! Nobody said otherwise! It’s all the other advantages it has that makes it fine! Even if you wanted to talk about the M4A3 76 specifically, which you don’t because you brought up every other 76 sherman and tried to pretend like they were underpowered, but whatever, you might have an argument with the m4a3 76 and we could go back and forth. However, you have no argument for the M4A1 or M4A2
yeah, my rating is fallen because I’m lvlng stock tanks I am unlocking atm…how about you show kdr’s!
No, we can check that too, you are VERY consistent.
You mean the same thing I do? Oh, so we’re on the same level of difficulty here.
You do not want me to go down that road either.
I suggest you stop trying to beat your chest over statistics and get back to arguing actual debate points because you are going to lose that first angle of attack
How about y’all agree to disagree. I think the t26 should go to 6.3 at see how it does - I don’t think it needs to jump straight to 6.0 nor do I think it would be a fair vehicle to fight at 5.0.
For everyone arguing about fighting it at range… then don’t. You aren’t being forced to engage it and if you do wait to take your shot till he crests the hill to move or angles his turret to shoot someone else.
The t25 is kinda trash now and I don’t like it given how sluggish it feels and it’s lack of stab. But it may just be a skill issue with me.
LIKE I said, you just want your easy meals
Like I said, you are full of it. You found an excuse (A very poor one, not accounting for any nuance) for why it could be that I disagree with you, and latched onto that cheap excuse despite the fact statistics prove me correct and prove you wrong regarding our inherent ability to understand the game.
T25 should be 5.7, and m26 should be 6.0
