Bro could get a source from the president himself and would still be daft, well, that’s what makes you a burgerbro I guess.
And for your information (not like you know what that means), the calculator does reflect self-sharpening, that’s why M829A2 has 700mm’ish of perforation/60 at 2km’s, just like in real life ))))
there is enough proof already imma search it and post it once i find it
he needs to make sure he finds a reliable piece of data that its modern enough to counter check the info and not just claim stuff based on generalized apfsds with no real capabilities compared to modern apfsds
DU is treated as DU, including adiabatic shearing, in fact type 10 apfsds also has adiabatic shearing counted ingame, i’ve already done calculations based off ingame stats using the magical lanz odermatt formula
its sources about the tungsten density used by rheinmetall not LO , LO its widely known as the most accurate form of calculation used for the penetrators because its simple accurate and goes straight for what it needs to go, its even used for simulation videos
Iirc they still have in service the 3bm32, the soviets probably left quite an stockpile of them although they have not been in production, so not sure about the current stock
Pretty sure DU rounds perform poorly at the velocities Germany aims for. Abrams rounds being fired out of the L/55 don’t improve much or with a higher pressure barrel the shell could get more inconsistent in terms of remaining whole. That’s what I’ve gathered.
Obviously the German shells being fired by the Abrams would be less than if it was a Leopard. They use different primary ammo for more reason than the environment (not that it shouldn’t be a concern for them). It’s just nit the only nor do I think most major for them.
It’s literally just cost of ammo. Tungsten in the USA is more expensive than DU is. It doesn’t matter if DM83 is better than M829A4 by enough to make the Army consider switching from DU to better tungsten alloys, it has to pass the bean counters first. 10k rounds of DM83 for the same price as 200k of M829A4 is why the USA is still using DU and the L44 barrel for the M1 tank.
I can’t DM you the link so I’ll just post it on here.
Not a primary source unfortunately, there is absolutely nothing from official sources on the performance of DU as armour (any search just goes straight to things talking about DU ammunition) that I have been able to find, that screen shot is grabbed from a computer modeling simulation on YouTube, while those things do need to be taken with a grain of salt, it’s unfortunately the best I can find.
If I manage to find anything more reliable I’ll post it (as long as it’s clearly marked as de-classified of course)
Thank you, I had a feeling it’s all classified so we won’t know until new tech comes out and old tech becomes declassified. It’s a video game, come to realize its not worth getting all worked up on it.
Before the ammo tangent, I was wondering what Armour difference was between US Abrams and Taiwanese and Australians. Come to find out they do say it is different (minus the AIM not being said specifically) but in game it’s just copy and paste, and knowing what Gajin uses now I don’t really have any expectations from them with educated guesses and realistically as long as it’s balanced I’m cool with it.
sepv3 has improved armor irl, ingame we dont have sepv3, we have sepv2, which is useless considering arat is dubiously modeleld and the massive rcws he magnet
