I really enjoy the Japanese tech tree in War Thunder and I’m trying to plan my spending for the future. What vehicles do you think are likely to be added to the Japanese tech tree next?
I doubt it.
Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia alone all have a lot of additions for Japan. We’re still missing a lot of Thai ground and some Thai aircraft. They could get a vehicle from Singapore or another ASEAN country but I’m not sure.
Malaysian / Indonesian ground vehicles are my guess. Since we got the Hawk 209, I can imagine that 10.0-11.3 Ground will finally get some love, namely;
Leopard 2A4+, Harimau MT, some IFVs, PT-91M, Malaysian T-84 (trialed T-84, not a Oplot-T/M) and AV8. There’s also some strike aircraft for this BR available, such as the Hawk 208 (TT version of 209), T50i / FA-50, F-5E MACAN (maybe even Super Tucano / AT-6TH)
But its also Gaijin so they might just throw a couple vehicles or aircraft of any descent.
Hopefully, it will be added to the game someday.
Here to talk about vehicles you want corrected or added please bare in mind how gaijin operates my example to you, there is no point arguing over trialed vehicles as gaijin allows them to so there is no point arguing over it cause it’s not gonna change keep the discussion understandable and coherent and don’t bombard it with repeat points other than that welcome and discuss😁 shouldn’t have to say this as this is in the title but try to keep the discussion strictly to the Japan tech tree thanks🙏🙏🙏
The Thai army trialed the AH-1Z viper by gaijin logic I’m waiting to see it as part of the Thai sub tree

No
What did they even add recently to piss you off so much that you want a trailed AH-1Z??
The clear lack of helicopters in the Japan branch Thai or not but as for a high rank heli the viper fits the narrative and as I mentioned in another post if the trial thing works for other’s why stop at Thailand it would be unfair and non-logical the Thai recently acquired the (little bird) which I could see being added but not with the weaponry to make it a high rank other than its mobility the viper might do better with the transferred ammunition the US has used for it
Generally I’m not a fan of trialed vehicles, but I still think there’s a good few trialed (or otherwise controversial) options for Thailand that I’d really like to see in game.
Stingray M41
![]()
Thailand was offered the Stingray turret to upgrade their existing M41 fleet during their 1986 trials of the tank. While the Stingray turret was designed to be compatible with the M41 chassis and this was already tested in the US before, the turret of the first Stingray prototype was still mounted to a Thai army M41A3 chassis for local trials.
It wasn’t bought, but it was made using a Thai owned chassis and was the only time a Stingray turret was mounted to an M41A3 (afaik Cadillac Gage testing in the US used M41A1).
EC645T2
![]()
The Thai navy operates EC645T2 (H145M) helicopters as utility helicopters. While they weren’t used as attack helicopters by Thailand, the variants is fully compatible with various weapons ranging from different machine guns and autocannons, to 70mm rockets and even Spike-LR fire and forget missiles and visibly retains the mountings for both the weapons and sights in Thai service.
M41GTI
M41 tank upgrade including a new, more efficient engine and a stabilized cannon among other changes, designed by GLS for general export. It was trialed by Thailand in 1986 but wasn’t adopted, Thailand was the only nation to show interest in the vehicle.
For this one I don’t think it would be fair if it only went to Thailand, since Thailand only really has a stake because no other nation was interested. So for that like any failed export I think it should go to the manufacturer (Germany), but I’d personally like to see it as a Thai vehicle too, since that’s the only place it could’ve potentially been serviced.
TH 301/A4
![]()
Further developed light tank based on the TAM made by Thyssen-Henschel as general export. This tank was actively competing with the Stingray in 1986, most notably offering Thailand local production share and even export rights. The tank was also offered and even ordered by Indonesia, though this export ended up being denied in the end.
This one is maybe a bit less justified, since it actively lost to another vehicle rather than just being cancelled like the M41 upgrade, and Thailand wasn’t the only nation to trial it. Again I think it should go to the manufacturer nation (Germany, again) as a failed export, but it would still be nice if it was also added for Thailand, partly because through Indonesia it has relevance to a second nation in the techtree too.
There is other controversial options like another M41 upgrade offer, this time with 90mm cannon and improved optics, OF-40 Mk2 or K1A1TH, but these are all I had time for during my break time now.
