Do you think there should be AShMs in the game?

I’ve been thinking of that for a while and I think that may have some advantages, yet with some caveats.
As of yet the Saetta is the only boat in the game with anti-ship missiles and they are highly effective against certain destroyers such as the Moskva and British destroyers but they are mediocre against destroyers at its own BR and higher, especially American ones. I don’t have a problem with that at all, however.

Anyway if more AShMs were added it’d obviously come with its advantages and disadvantages. The first advantage would be that boats like the Albatros would now actually have some form of protection against Gearings, the K2, cruisers like the Prinz Eugen and other ships it’d usually have a hard time damaging. The addition may also come with a few new boats like the Osa and but that’s pretty much it.

There’d be a thousand caveats to this, and they outweigh the advantages. First of all the Albatros would be catapulted to 4.7, if not higher for balancing’s sake. Second of all there’d be a huge learning curve for those unfamiliar with the art of missilery. There’d also be the hassle of figuring out which control systems the missiles should have; Automatic or Manual?

If the missiles were to be guided in a SACLOS-like manner, as in the Saetta’s missiles it’d be more rational, since if they guided themselves they would be too OP for their own good. I’d keep the latter for modern AShMs like the Exocet but the former for earlier types like the Moskit and Termit.

Oh, and the missiles might just as well ruin battleship matches should they be implemented. Larger missiles (Soviet AShMs) may be considered OP due to their speed, huge explosive filler and shaped-charges thus making them extremely annoying to deal with in battleships. Whereas the Exocet may be treated in the same regard as the Bravy’s missiles since they’re just them with twice the explosive filler. To deal with that they’d have to limit the amount of missiles the boats can carry.

In conclusion, while I think they may be an interesting addition they’d be a detriment to the current situation of the gamemode.
